Maybe if Apple had some inovative way of positioning the speakers.... Positionging them oddly...
Anywho
Can someone post a summary of this post , what has been discussed and what are the opnions and options for people who do not want to read all of this.....
The pdf seems dodgy. If it was produced by apple, it would feel like apple. Apple font, logo, graphics.
The pdf seem to have been drawn from the photos - and a little off at that. The speaker in the pdf is higher than that in the photo. The vents/ports at the bottom are lower on the pdf than the pic. For something having very little tech detail - to have the weight of the fan is not consistent with the vague nature of the page.

Again: The pdf was made by AppleP58 who submitted the photos.
Well, the new PowerMacs look okay to me. I really can't think of a more accessible case than what they have now with the flip out side on the QS. I really wish I knew the specs.
I think the firewire/usb connections in front are prettly slick. You know apple has been reluctant to put connectors in the front because they look tacky. They seem to have solved that problem. Plus angling the cables downwards makes since anyway. The cables will take less Desktop space because they won't arch away from the box like they would if they came straight out. They quickly angle to the desk. Nice touch in my opinion. It's the ttention to detail that Apple is known for.
Now if the specs are decent enough, they could have some winners.
I don't really understand the push to have totally redesigned cases. The flip-out design is fantastic.
Yo! I'm not saying they are ports for sure. But the arguments against them being ports are kind of lame.
Arguments I've heard against them being ports:
1) Apple doesn't put ports in the front of anything --- ever!
rebut: While the statement is true to date. I believe the main reason Apple hasn't put ports in front is because of the 'ugly' factor. However, with this model you can't see if they are ports or not because they've managed to conceal them, hence removed the 'ugly' factor. You remove the 'ugly' factor, you remove the main reason Apple has refused to put them on front. Hence, they could be ports. (the hinged door is not a elegant solution for 'easy' access ports).
2) The holes face downward.
Rebut: Well, IF they are ports, this accomplishes two things. 1) hides the ugly asymetric ports (USB/firewire = asymetric). 2) Allows for the cables to angle down towards the desktop nicely, instead of arcing away from the machine. Which will not only look better, but also take up less space and decrease the chances of knocking cables with your elbows or knees.
3) There are already ports on the back.
rebut: Well, why not have them on the back and front. These are Power machines, not consumer models. And we are not sure about the connectors on the back.
4) The machine requires ventilation.
rebut: Is that were the current machines are vented? If not, then why couldn't these be vented from the bottom or back?
5) There is no motherboard connection where the ports would be on front.
rebut: Well, if this is true... then they aren't ports!! Oh well.

I agree, since this design came out on the PowerMac G3 B+W, I think it is the best design ever. I would like to see more HD drives in this version though. I think I read that it can fit 4, is that right?
All they really need to do to keep everyone happy is change the external plastics, but they can not give up on the door for such easy access to the inside of the computer.
I think its interesting that the main point of contention in this thread has shifted from "are these pics real?" to "are the holes on the front og the new PowerMacs for Vents or Ports"
I think its also interesting to note that this contention shifted almost as soon as the very nice glossy photoshoped adaptation of the case design was posted.
So, when its a grainy espionage-looking digital photo - IT MUST BE FAKE!
But, when some one takes some time and turns out a glossy mock up (that I must admit looks Fab-U!) We're suddenly more willing to believe...
Well, i for one have no idea, but i hope its real because I've been waiting for three months to buy a Powermac, and I've been holding out for these new fangled units.
See you all in line at the apple store when they're released
I find it interesting that a photo of the keyboard or mouse wasn't taken. Are there going to be two eject buttons on the keyboard now? Using ribbon cable, I don't think it would be that hard to connect the front ports to the MB. The "minor" revision to the case, could be the result of Apple keeping costs down on the production side during this downturn.
Heh, that LOL was meant to apply to michael grey, but hell, this is like IRC! Before I got back 3 post sprouted. This sure is exciting. When will we find out if it's real? I'm still not sure what to think.

Good point. Perhaps like others have mentioned they will be slot loading, or maybe have x-server type buttons. Or maybe I have no idea. In any case. I am just reposting the links for the original photos.
Still no word from Apple to take um down so I guess I can presume that they don't read here, or that they are fake. ::sigh:: Unless they intentionally leaked them, but then that theory has been explored already.
Apple DID send a cease and Desist order to the French site that originally posted them, but not until monday.
I would bet that because the durn things were released on the cusp of the weekend, they spread too quickly for apple to send Cease and Desist orders to everyone with them posted. They'll probably stick to bullying the larger Apple Media outlets. I'd bet that MOSR is forced to take them down, and that think Secret knows better than to post them at all.
Fact remains they HAVE asked the French site to remove them, which is as interesting as anything else in this whole debacle.

The tower will look a lot better with that

Also ,I bet the heatsink weighs 1.7 lbs.

It's design is not an different than the BW G3s or Graphite G4s. In fact it is almost identical save for the power button on the top row.
The quote citing Occum's Razor is a wonderful usage of the term....
