I don't think it's cool the way you all bash SJO like you do. It looks like bullying.

I had that thought too. It's fine for people on the right to put forward thoughts that are by any definition consistently extreme but SJO gets a whole sequence of posts. Very often they mention female epithets (sometimes incredibly insultingly). Some sexist plankton on these boards would like to deny a voice to someone because she thinks a little bit different.

Can anyone name me a single country at war that fights in compliance of the principles of the Geneva Convention?

There isn't one, and there probably never will be.

How about the United States and Britian

    Thank-you. That's more like it.

Bring it on. There some guy, maybe a baker, maybe a painter, and he's got the Epic of Gilgamesh in his basement.

Let's see Colin sort this out.

    Scott.

You are the only man on the whole planet who apparently believes that the arrival of tanks in Baghdad and the looting of Baghdad musuem are completely unconnected.

I believe that this makes you foolish.

In the interests of the Community, I have edited the post in which I told Scott that I believe him to be foolish.

When the police is sleeping, there is burglaring, looting .... The guilty are those who made it, but the people in Charge of the countrie are responsible of the security : they have to organize this security.

After everywar, looting occur, it's not new, in fact it's well known.

Anyway, US now is organising this security and things get better. Unfortunately Gilgamesh is in my secure chest, and i am not ready to give it back to a museum

Did anyone else just hear the "goal posts" get moved again by the anti-war coalition (as was predicted in another topic)?

Ha! cat99's got my back! High five, brother man.

And yes, they are. At this rate, they'll be out of the endzone, into the 40th row and nudging the Budweiser concession box by next week. After that? Parking lot city, baby!

You're foolish if you think the beging of all solutions for Iraq can be found in Foggy Bottom. Iraqi criminals need to delt with by Iraqi police. Which are returning to work after the tanks. When Iraqis steel from Iraqis that's a problem for Iraqis to solve. Duh!

    Nanny state to the exteme.

I know this will, no doubt, bring me all sorts of grief, but I ask it in the most serious, genuine way possible: what's a few days of looting during a transitional, temporary period compared to nearly 30 years or horror and oppression?

I swear, people NEVER seem to get this upset and indignant about looting when it occurs here in L.A. or Detroit or in some city where some sports team has just won - or lost - a championship game.

Is it somehow viewed as harmless hi-jinks when it's done by minorities upset with jury certain verdicts and drunken, idiotic college students here in the U.S.? Must be, because I sure as hell don't hear the outrage and hand-wringing directed toward it as it is in Iraq.

Suddenly, "looting" is just appearing on the radar to some of you as a bad thing? Interesting.

Part of liberation involved destroying the civic structures that have kept order for the last thirty years. This was achieved with bombs, tanks and bullets, most of them American.

It's America's responsibilty. I'm glad to see that Colin Powell recognises this, even if you don't, and is prepared to help Iraq reassemble its treasures.
