I'm with Nick. Nothing leverages wealthbuilding like real estate. Although I'd definitely upgrade the ride and the personal residence, and set up the travel fund !
Help pay off some family debts from remodeling the house
Buy:
-Maxed out 17" PowerBook
-Maxed out 12" PowerBook
-60" Plasma TV
-Some game consoles (and maybe a couple more TVs for those as well)
-A trip to Southeast Asia
I'd leave at least $500,000 to invest in something fairly secure, like mutual funds or savings bonds. Maybe I'd set aside $25k to $50k for some riskier ventures, and if I'm lucky, I'll get the REAL big payoff.
Down payment for apartment next door (As a single guy I need those 1800 sqf) $15.000
Go travel for a year and don´t worry about the expenses $150.000
Get a boat. Long thin 40 feet and made of wood. A racer $ 150.000
Get several bikes $15.000
Buy some macs (a 2nd gen. 970 top model with a couple of screens and a powerbook plus other stuff) $15.000
Stereo plus records $10.000
Cool life accessories (furniture, clothes, glasses, other stuff) $ 65.000
Do something desperate to make a certain woman fall in love with me $1-40.000
Food, including going out 5 times a week for a year, some basic kitchen equipment (I have ruined four of my five Le Crouset saucepans/cooking pots within the last two years) and expenses for one year of food for my own kitchen experiments $10.000
And the best part: Do it all (including college) again in five years.
I wouldn't do too much; get a highrise apartment in Chicago, season tickets to the Cubs and Michigan football, a '68 Bullitt Mustang to restore, a new PowerBook 970, put some toward philanthropic work, whatever else suits my fancy.

Cubs? What a effing waist of money.
I'm sure my wife would quit working and have those 4 kids she wants. House trip to France then kids.
Disclaimer: It was intended to be a joke, but in all seriousness if you guys wouldn't mind at least taking a look, even $5 will help out.

If I had a million dollars... i honestly have no clue what I would do, maybe buy a nice car with a huge mp3 library built in with a nice 5.1 DVD system in there also.... but the rest I would save and invest (real estate is the way to go, huh?). I would "play" with half the interest once a year with a trip to vegas, and europe a few times as well...

Helping kids in Africa and stuff. Yeah, I'd do that in an instant.
(and set a price for bush's head...)
Pay off my tuition (about $40-50k)
Put $50k aside for my brother's tuition

if i had a million i'd give 800,000 to my dad to turn into more money
100,000 would be for spending (mostly new mac and car)
100,000 would be strictly reserved for college
well maybe my dad would only get 600,000 because it would be nice to have some back up
2. A cool apparment/loft in downtown denver that over looks the river
3. A fully loaded 17 powerbook and fully loaded 1.42 gig. powermac.
4. A sweet saltwater fish tank with all the goodies.
4. Finally, I would buy a broadband conection so that I don't have to wait on this old dialup.
2.Really good speakers
3. Fake ID, convinving of course, cause i would have a million dollors
4.Horsey stuff, the really nice stuff, really really nice stuff, and horsey stuff for barnmates.
5.Bike gloves, yum.
6. A car, id wait till i was 16 though, but then again, i would have a fake id so. . . yeah a mini cooper.
