    I'd hate to think that the "Pie" is just the new LCD round iMac. It's half a sphere, but more importantly, it's round with a flat bottom...

    It's basically the Cube replacement, which could be the return of Trinity. I'm too lazy to figure out the timeline, but could the iMac be "Pie"?

    unless you've posted like a million posts on this forum nobody seems to even acknowledge your presence but ....

    what if pie is a shortened version of the colloquial "humble pie". apple actually had to suck it up and admit that the cube was overpriced and , basically, a mistake in timing and pricing. so after eating humble pie they will reorganize, reevalutate the intended market and do what they need to do to insure that the cube does well this time. just a thought but what the hell else could pie be? <img src="confused.gif" border="0">

    "When the third sucessor of Artemis shall eat pie in the great desert, Artemis' twin shall rein with the agile Mercury and the obstinate Mercury before being eaten by the goldfish and this shall signal Trinity's return."

    It's about CPUs only:

    When the successor of the eMac gets an IBM Sahara-G3 with vector instructions, the Apollo-G4 will be in Apple's small laptop (iBook) and the big laptop (PowerBook) before they get a next-gen Motorola CPU (G4+/G5) and this will signal the return of AIM.

    Interesting idea but I'm not sure I see where the effort is worth it... Sahara+Vector.

    iMac = G4

    iBook = G4 (if what you say is correct)

    PowerMac = G4 / G5

    PowerBook = G4

    eMac = w/New G3++

    Adding altivec to the G3 that would only be used in one product? Not sure I see the point and I can't imagine the cost of CPU development could be covered. Unless another device is on it's way that would also use this new G3++

    One with an Ink filling perhaps? Low power tablet type device?? Maybe???

    Recap...

    Key:

    Trinity = AIM

    Pie = New Bus with more bandwidth

    El Capitan = G4 (doesn't totally fit but pretty close)

    Little Brother = G3

    Dolphin = CPU used in that game box.

    "A little bird told that Trinity shall return, after eating pie, more voluminous than a dolphin..."

    AIM will be back together with support for a new faster bus.

    "El Capitan's hamartia shall lead to Trinity's return and its rise to the throne, Its little brother shall rule in the great desert where the dolphins roam."

    G4 flaw (slow bus support) will give way to AIM's return and with it the G5 (Power4 that was based on the G3) the little brother (G3+ Altivec) shall... Dunno I'm not getting the end.

    "The filling shall reveal a crust made from the Rosetta Stone."

    Some device that will support/need Ink?

    "When the third sucessor of Artemis shall eat pie in the great desert, Artemis' twin shall rein with the agile Mercury and the obstinate Mercury before being eaten by the goldfish and this shall signal Trinity's return."

    (word for word from STW)

    Hmmm things seem to all fall in place using the above stated defs.

    Apple can't put a G3 in the eMac. Not because of technical issues, but because it would be seen as a step backwards by the masses.

    If they do the 'G3++' thing, they will have to call it a G4e (or G4'something').

    As for the riddle...I like the CPU theories best. It jives with the other rumors that have been floating. When is IBM going to unveil this new chip (microprocessor forum?)

    I remember way back when the POWER3 was first announced that it was based off the PPC 603. Can anyone confirm this?

    No. I believe (and you quoted it) a different theory:

    Apple pie = Apple PI = processing instructions = vector instructions

    i.e. AIM will be back after IBM finally supporting Altivec, not the limited vector instructions in the GameCube CPU.

    Please also note that the "great desert" almost certainly is IMBs G3 chip (sahara).

    And I will second the call that the "goldfish" was the old name given to motorola's G5 here on the AI site nearly 4 years ago.

    [ 09-09-2002: Message edited by: wormboy ] arrgh. goldfish is easy to spell, right?

    It also seems to me that "trinity shall return after eating pie, more voluminous than dolphin" is an obvious reference (in retrospect) to the round form factor of the 17" iMac (the 17" screen being more voluminous than the 16" Dolphin.

    It sounds to me like the Mot. G4++/G5/RIO, low power = Goldfish

    and

    IBM's power4 w/ processing instructions (PI)/G5 = trinity

    and

    both will be comming to a Mac near you.

    Yes, that makes more sense than the screen size reference. OK, so trinity is the IBM chip and not the cube?

    maybe i am just out of it. but where did all these quotes come from?

    Also, it sounds as if, as many people have already said, the pi filling, as with many different ingredients come together to make one thing, and the crust is the rosetta stone, ink.

    so, mabye internet appliance? <img src="graemlins/smokin.gif" border="0" alt="[Chilling]" />

    but, acutally, an iPhone?

    How about a pda/phone device that also acts as a remote desktop for your laptop (bluetooth). Full access to your laptop when you don't have space to unfold. All the processing power and storage space in 1/4 the space. Stylus as mouse/keyboard (Inkwell).

    With desktop computer, can be used as mini-tablet.

    When solo, just the best pda/phone on the market.

    Crazy?

    Bump.

    Well <a href="http://www.macedition.com/nmr/nmr_20020914.php"; target="_blank">now</a> we know what Apple pie is. Processor Interconnect.

    A lot of people seem to be basing their conjecture on this, but it doesn't make any sense. If Artemis is the AIO G3, then the CRT iMac would be the first successor, and the eMac the second. Following Spiffster's logic, the third successor to Artemis is something unrelesed - the successor to the eMac. I suppose that one could argue that the LCD iMac is, in fact, the second successor, thereby returning the eMac to the coveted third place, but I think it would be difficult to argue that the eMac is a successor to the LCD iMac...

    does this mean that we could see an mp cube with Apple Processor Interconnect?

    [quote] Its little brother shall rule in the great desert where the dolphins roam." <hr></blockquote>

    maybe little brother is IBM's gekko cpu (where trinity is AIM). Meaning the gekko will rule where the dolphins roam (inside the gamecube). I know this has little to do with apple, but it is just a thought

    The Cube is already bigger than a GameCube (those things are tiny, especially when you plonk them next to an Xbox, I don't know if that's of any relevance.

    Maybe it's an allusion to an Apple games console? :eek:

    I dont know if this will help but: (thanks sherlock 3 )

    Obstinate

    SYLLABICATION: ob·sti·nate

    PRONUNCIATION: ŏbʼstɘ-nĭt

    ADJECTIVE:

    1. Stubbornly adhering to an attitude, opinion, or course of action; obdurate. 2. Difficult to manage, control, or subdue; refractory. 3. Difficult to alleviate or cure: an obstinate headache.

    [quote] third sucessor of Artemis shall eat pie in the great desert <hr></blockquote>

    Some kind of all in one with a Sahara chip enhanced with Apple PI?

    [quote] "El Capitan's hamartia shall lead to Trinity's return and its rise to the throne, Its little brother shall rule in the great desert where the dolphins roam. <hr></blockquote>

    Here it goes:

    El Capitan's hamartia (flaw)= Slow G4 processor, shall lead to Trinity's return (AIM alliance back to working together again. Brings to mind the 160+ instruction vector proccesor on the 64 bit thingy from IBM), and it's rise to the throne (back to being the speed king?). "... rule in the great desert where the dolphins roam" a derivative of this processor could be used for a future game system?

    The AIM alliance refrence got me thinking. Each company would contribute something to this processor. IBM = multi-core design, POWER-4 architecture. Apple = Apple PI (processer interconnect, will replace the Max bus according the NMR). Moto = ???

    [quote] A little bird told that Trinity shall return, after eating pie, more voluminous than a dolphin... <hr></blockquote>

    Here it goes again:

    Same Trinity refrence as before, after eating PI - a processor with the Apple Processor Interconnect technology, more voluminous (Having great volume, fullness, size, or number: a voluminous trunk; a voluminous cloud.) than a dolphin, with more bandwith then the Gamecube.

    Just some more random thoughts.
