The Treo 600 is going to rock the house. It will be the first smartphone that takes off, guaranteed.
Agree on the SE comment, however, I dont think the new TREO will be that much of a gang buster. Looks nice, but it is still missing one thing that a HUGE number of people are looking for in a phone right about now: Bluetooth. I cant see myself spending $400-$500 for a phone I still ahve to use a cable with. Why is it that everyone and their grandmother can have a BT phone???

I agree about BT... Handspring has left room on the circuitboard specifically for BT. They are not including it in the first version for whatever reason.
Regardless, the Treo 600 has an SDIO slot, and there are WiFi and BT cards for that... drivers to come. Not as elegant as built in, but a small price to pay I think for a cool smartphone running a modern Palm OS
Just for those interested... here is a pic of the Treo 600. I actually think I would buy this phone if I were really in the market for one... and I have been a pretty vocal lobbyist against smartphones of this nature.

I like the phone but I think it lacks a certain elegance the P610/P616 offers. In particular, I dislike the fake metal also found on the Siemens S55/SL55. The P610's material mix - high gloss plastics, brushed aluminium - is nearly perfect. Oh well...

I totally agree. My neighbor in the apartment next door has a P610, and I'm quite envious of it. Sprint never has the phones I want. I'm currently using a Sanyo 5300. I like it, but I'm not in love with it...
now if only they would let the p800 use it (though seeing th cost of 128mb duo's at the moment it would cost my arm and my leg). just a firmware mod i'm told
The P810 does not have that much built in memory. It has 16MB built in. 64k colour screen.
Well, 16MB should be plenty to hold my Contacts and calendar data. After all, my "old" Palm IIIxe has "only" 8MB (half of which I don't even use) but still does everything I need it to do.
Pretty soon phones will cost more than iBooks. They already cost more than iPods. I reallly really really REALLY want a Bluetooth phone for my PBG4 12". But not for more than a hundred dollars max. Does anyone make a BT phone that doesn't do all that other fancy stuff? I just want mobile connectivity, not fscking Java color Solitaire on my phone, although AIM might be nice. I also would like it to be small.

Close to a year ago, Philips made a nice BlueTooth GPRS phone - the Fisio 820. Only problem: Neither Philips nor Apple cared about cooperation. So, no iSync support or official modem drivers.
Doesn´t that look like a fake? The screen looks too perfect for that to be a normal picture
Anders: The picture is a marketing shot taken directly from Handspring's official Treo 600 website. It's definitely not a fake. But it's very well possible that the screen image is pasted on. After all, the Treo 600 retains the original Treo 300's 160x160 pixel display--to keep the size small--instead of moving up to the new 320x320 high-res standard.

I have issues with any phone manufacturer that still insists that external antennas are required. Just my 2¢.

SE T68i I think you can get em for free now, i got myne for $50, less than a year ago. Small, aim, BT
Any more info on the p810? I've heard rumours about of a October / November release elsewhere, but nothing concrete and no specific mention of EU / US availability.
Harald? Any new info about the P810 and other Sony Ericsson smart- and/or feature-phones?
Personally, I'm slowly slipping towards favoring a Palm OS-based smartphone like the Treo 600. I've been using a Palm PDA for 5 years now. Others have used their PalmPilots for even longer. The Palm OS is mature. Why should we choose a Symbian based smartphone that only runs J2ME apps over a Palm smartphone? (Note that this is not a rhetorical question. I'm interested in serious discussion of pros and cons.)

Anyhow, didn't mean to hijack the thread...
Out this year for certain.
Now ... as to why I got that wrong ... that stays between me and Lucia

(sorry i didn't read all the replies so some of it may be redundant..)
65k backlit TFT screen
smaller (about 20%)
mpeg4 support
nightmode shots
clips limited only to memory stick size
aol chat
mp3 as ringtones
and looks awsome
:-)
l8tr
Did I forget to mention that?
(BTW you can export movies with QuickTime to .3gp and they work off the bat with the P800 ...)
