    It's Phanter!

Anyways...according to AI, 7B80 and 7B81 are speedier than previous builds *and* sport new little animation.

Damn. Apple is really going for broke with this release.

This might be the first release where we really see what the next-generation codebase is capable of.

The refinements are moving in a promising direction as well: The panes that use transparency to darken themselves are part of an important and powerful shift toward dynamism, which is good news for both themers and those hoping for resolution independence. (Not to mention that it just makes designing interfaces that much cleaner and easier.)

I'm really looking forward to this.

Yes. The zip format used in Panther is derived/'inspired' from GNU zip used in GNU/Linux.

I have no idea what you are talking about -- but it sure sounds great!

Heres a quick Panther Safari UI issue question. Does Safari now have a graphite version of its buttons?

I heard the Quicktime metal theme in the latest Panther release looks greats... I haven't been able to find a screenshot of it. Could anyone post a screenshot or a link? thanks

I was just wondering if anyone could elaborate on the "New" animations that AI mentioned that appear in the latest builds. Possibly pics or movies?? Thanks

I agree! Eye candy is the best thing in Panther, and I'm burning with curiosity.

Still no update on ADC... perhaps the next update will go straight to FC?

What is to stop someone from downloading the beta at the last moment (when it's just about gold master), and using it? It's not even classified as beta anymore...the "10.3 Pre-release" in the about box is now just "Version 10.3". Does Apple have a timer or something on the Beta?

I hardly think they'd dare, especially with the 10.2.8 fiasco.

    More likely, they are

    1) Pissed off with rumour mongers among ADC members, or

    2) Scrimping on bandwidth and releasing only more significant milestone builds to regular developers.

Don't start thinking I have special info... I don't. But all the recent reports seem to indicate that the OS itself is practically complete. Now that they're tossing in GUI changes, I'd only expect a few more releases.
