Dude, the other choices suck. Haha. That's why I'm a mac user, usually (9 times out of 10) Apple offers the best choice. In this case it was the iPod, and I, along with over 100,000 people chose to buy it.

Messiahtosh as my rule is always to give people the benefit of the doubt the first time round, I'm going to assume you're being ironic.
But unfortunately, I've got this horrible feeling that's not the case.
Excuse me crazychester, hows this for an amazing statistic? The original iPod went on sale in october of 2001 and from then through the december quarter Apple sold 125,000 of them.
The mini was announced less than 35 days ago and it has been ordered over 100,000 times already, before being on shelves anywhere.
Apple has a winner, and there is a good reason for it.
Messiahtosh because I'm feeling ultra generous at the moment, I've decided to give you three (count 'em! ONE, TWO, THREE) chances. But you've already used one so keep in mind you only have two left.
I own an iPod and I've never owned anything but Macs. You've heard of the phrase "preaching to the converted" right? Now look up in the left hand corner. It says AppleInsider, no? Yes.
Apple don't need to sell iPods (of any description) to you or me. They're smart enough to know we'll probably buy one anyway. It's the great unwashed masses (for want of a better term) they're shooting for here. And that's where it gets tricky because they don't necessarily respond to the same marketing tactics that you or I might. Get it?
I'm really glad for you that you're getting a miniPod.
Oh look is that the time? Best be going for a swim I think...........
I just dont think as many people agree with you as they do with me. Regardless of my status as a Mac user and the fact that I am through and through a hardcore Apple fanatic, the average Joe will buy these players. The average person has already been buying the regular, more expensive, larger iPod.
So, you have decided to go back on topic when you cant figure out a way to explain yourself? Ok, whatever. BTW, most commercials are not designed to appeal to everyone.
Actually, I still think the way SJ presented it at Macworld would work a treat if it could be encapsulated in an ad. Reminded me of an old con artist's trick.
It works like this. Pick your mark (eg. kids, oldies who haven't come to terms with the digital music thing, gym junkies etc.), get them thinking along the lines you want them to think (eg. the digital music revolution is here and look flash players just don't cut it), and then when you go in for the kill you only offer them choices that give you the result you want -> So then, would you like a miniPod or a regular iPod with your fries?
If the ground work is laid properly, 9 times out of 10 it just doesn't occur to people that there are other choices.

Oh...my...god. I can only shake my head and smile in amazement at you people. What a bunch of doom and gloom cynic crybaby beeotches. Am i in a mac forum? I had to check about a hundred times. The ipod is sick. Do you all think it is so easy to come up with a product that simply is better than the rest? All you friggin brats want some fire breathing super virtual reality teleportation PDA that you seen captain kirk had on episode 145? sheesh...this mp3 player is a hundred times better than every mp3 player out there. period. the price is a bit high just because its a new product. they need the cash to keep you crybaby closet MS lovers happy with new products (they are in the business to make money ya know?) You all blame apple for the hype? its your own damn fault you think they are coming out with a time travel device or some ****. i dont know why i bother reading this crap sometimes. i wish we could filter out all the fools that do nothing but moan and groan about everything in front of their faces. everything...not just apple computers new products. your just bitches.
From Macworld.co.uk
Apple's market-leading iPod has generated its own developer community. Edgar Matias, president of Matias which produces the iPod armor product, had a new twist on the long-running discussion over price: "Despite all the whining about the price from the Mac faithful, the iPod mini will be a spectacular success for Apple. It is well-priced and that will only go lower with time."
Praising the form factor, which Matias said he: "found to be ideal for portable handheld devices ? small enough to fit in the pocket, but still big enough so you can operate the controls", he predicted "the iPod mini will prove all the naysayers wrong."
He continued: "The Mac faithful do not generally understand retail. They argue that if you can get a higher-capacity iPod for just $50 more, why would anyone get an iPod mini?"
"Ignoring all other factors," he said, there is one class of customer who almost always buy the cheapest available option ? gift givers. And for these customers iPod mini is an absolute win. From a merchandizing perspective the product's a stroke of genius," he said.
Back on topic...I am going foreward with developing a commercial. Hopefully this one is better than the last.
Just to clarify this. I've had 4 people now PM me saying they "didn't get the joke either" or similar things.
There was a page on his site called Hate Crime. It was a song Macintosh sings about hating retards, gays, and muslims. You know, a real feel-good song.
For the good of Apple, we'll probably have to try and put up with him here. If he's let loose on the world, I'm sure he could single-handedly destroy the entire platform. (That one's gonna hurt - just watch

Ask around, the mini has mass appeal.
Just anticipate the common consumer questions ie:
What does it look like
How many songs can it hold
Does it work with my computer
How much does it cost
Where can I buy it
Messiahtosh make an ad like that and I'll take you off my ignore list.
See, I think there are a lot of people who know all that already but who haven't bought an iPod. And sure, there are some who don't know that stuff.
OK here's a challenge for you. Devise me a single ad that will sell miniPods to all the following potential customers:
- a 15 year old who knows exactly what an iPod mini is but whose parents control the credit card
- a 25 year old who knows exactly what an iPod mini is but is on a limited budget
- a 35 year old who's kinda got a handle on the whole thing but whose other half is saying "no we should wait until they come down in price"
- a 45 year old whose financially comfortable but a little intimidated by the whole digital music thing
- a 55 year old with money to burn who hasn't yet realized you can import music onto a computer
I'll do my best though.
Gotta be some kind of record...

It's gone from his site now, hence the confusion.

Probably true, but not as mature as my mom.
Anway, back to the thread. I am preparing a video right now. We'll see how it goes, editing is nearly complete.
