I've read that UBB poops out around 1600 posts or so.
The point about Apple under-hyping Paris is a good one. If they did this for all expos, even if this were alittle more than usual, then I would not be so, uh, hopeful. But the fact that they have actually tried to suppress expectations at previous expos is telling.
On the other hand MWNY '01 caught even them by surprise I think. The now infamous line from Jobs, "We should have been ready" directly after the keynote was telling. They were certainly expecting more at that time. Like the G4 fiasco, I think Apple has taken precautions this time. They must have been pretty sure what was going down for sure a week before this expo though, when this hype started.
Oh damn, Anders, I fear I might be excommunicated from the Sane Elite! I might not be expecting G5's, but my expectations are getting pretty high nonetheless.
I think whatever the big announcement for MWNY was, is ready now. Whatever it is was probably started a year before that.
What happened at MWNY '00? I can't remember that far back....
What was Steve thinking, direction wise, for the company? I think MWNY '00 Was the introduction of the DP machines, right? I think right about then Apple would have been thinking of how to speed up their Powermacs without the help of Motorola since Motorola couldn't produce faster chips.
So, how the hell is Apple going to make a 1 GHZ G4 run faster than a 2.2 GHZ P4? But not just in Photoshop, I mean twice as fast with EVERYTHING. What bus technologies aren't used in the Windows world, that couldn't be used six months from now to let them catch up?

Dual machines came MWNY 00, not 99. Then came the iBook and AirPort.
<strong>I'm getting happier. My mom just told me that we might have up to 7 inches here so more likely of them closing school!</strong><hr></blockquote>
And last but not least: The thread where the AI collective declared and proved the best hoax in Apple hardware hoax history to be... a hoax. And that BEFORE the video and pictures were officially on the spymac homepage. Nobody dare try screw us again <img src="graemlins/smokin.gif" border="0" alt="[Chilling]" />
7 inches of snow and school closes?? Wow.</strong><hr></blockquote>
Well I really don't know. This is my first year in this school district, but when I lived in NYC and there was snow the schools up here seemed to close for barely any.
[quote]Come back after the expo and experience a brand new Spymac.com. With hundreds of thousands of unique visitors a day, Spymac.com has plans to become your premiere source of Apple rumor information. The newly designed site will revolutionize the currently stale insider community. For instance:
Spymac.com will rate all of its news, rumors and stories on a scale of one to ten. Ten being so accurate you can bet your house on the accuracy of the text, with articles rated one to five provided more for entertainment purposes than anything else.
Spymac.com will pay our contributers - only for info they are legally allowed to share, of course What this means for the reader is more accurate inside information! And for the sources who wish to stay anonymous, we can donate your payment to a charity of your choice!
Spymac.com will feature state-of-the-art community abilities. An interactive user gallery, message board and other surprises will be at your command soon.
Behind the scenes heavy work is under way. Construction will be completed in the weeks following the expo.<hr></blockquote>

<strong>JLL: in the South, 2 inches of snow closes school for days!
</strong><hr></blockquote>
Remember we are from scandinavia. Here it is not uncommon with 6 feet of snow (not on the same day though). I still remember one year on our annual cross country ski vacation in Norway we had rented a cottage and when we arrived it was completly covered with snow (except a few inches of the chimney. We had to not just dig our way in but the cottage out of the snow
But then again this is Denmark and not Norway. We rarely have more than 5-10 inches of snow here and most of the times its gone in a few days. This christmas was white for the first time in perhaps 10 years.

Hmm...
30 / 6.5 = 4.62
4.62 * 0.9375 = 4.33
30 + 4.33 = 34.33
Tomorrow at 9am this thread should be at least 34.33 pages long.
Damn I'm a damn mathematical guy.

approximately 1.3 to 1.4 Ghz Powermacs then, at least according to Fran's earlier theory (around page 21 or maybe 24).

Well, according to his theory, I just hope I underestimated this thread.
Means: G5 @ 2.4GHz please, else I'm gonna buy some new windows
I'm becoming superstitious. If UBB tops out around 1600, does that mean that 1600Mhz G? (4 or 5 would both be quite good at that speed).
Come people, we can bring this UBB to it's knees, which, BTW, is where Steve will be if this show doesn't turn out WAY BEYOND the rumor sites.
Oh forget what I just babbled, I'm getting light headed in Giddy anticipation.
This time tommorow I'm gonna be totally frazzled.
I think the announcement has to be something different.

Sorry, I forgot it was 2002.
I guess this is when I should go back and edit my original post....
BUT the <a href="http://forums.appleinsider.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=1&t=000509&p=" target="_blank">OH GOD!!!!! [iWalk]</a> takes the prize for me.
See these stats:
First page in half an hour (more than one post per minute).
First five pages in two hours.
First nine pages in just over five hours.
fastest page (<a href="http://forums.appleinsider.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=1&t=000509&p=3" target="_blank">#3</a>) in 15 minutes  (I remember posting one post at the beginning and suddenly the page was over. )

That comes quite close to copyright violation, man.
<strong>EmAn, do your homework. There's a much better chance of no school if you are prepared.
Every time I keep trying to do my homework I keep coming back to AI. I'm too addicted I guess.
