There is no retail price for the Power4, but if there were, it would be *way* over a thousand dollars, pretty much regardless of quantity. Whilst having superb technology, IBM are the most expensive foundry there is, and the chip is huge.

Apart from this, the chip is not well suited to desktop use, it is designed to go into multi-chip-modules, not be plugged into a motherboard, it dissipates enormous quantities of heat, and requires unique chips for controlling I/O and memory.

Lastly, IBM don't make G4s, and Apple already use only IBM G3s.

    [quote] And finally

A faster G4 PowerBook (finally) tinted black to match the new pro towers. The new Black G4 powerbook will have an 800MHz G4 processor and a better mobile graphics chip, plus the addition of another FW port, and a 1/2-pound less in weight.

Plus it's delivered to your door by a Playboy Playmate?.

Well I tracked down some folks who actually have TechTV AND know how to record it (can you say "thank you TiVO" ??

Anyhow, I'll have to go by their house tomorrow night to view the footage....assuming that they're up to receiving guests.

At least I'll have time to scan the Apple site tomorrow morning before I head out for work...

    ....Good Luck to us all!

Okay, I guess that the final post in this thread is going to have the Stevenote Quicktime stream embedded into it.

Wouldn't it be cool to say yeah I watched the Quicktime stream on the AI message board. It was post #2115.

I have a gut feeling we will see a handheld tommorow. I feel this way because Bill Gates is showing his on Tuesday and Steve may be trying to one up Bill on it. Who knows?

Considering the amount of post padding (this one included) and the new-found hype from the Apple front page tomorrow morning, yes, 40 pages (if it doesn't crap out first).
