    Correct.

And Luca... that's exactly what I meant... Siberian Tiger, Siberia the place. Neither makes anymore sense than Bengal.

My guess would be, OS X 10.4 "Tiger".

Is that Tiger with a double g?

Why not endangered species? OS X Spotted Owl....

Sure, there'd be PR problems, but on the other hand, Apple could apply for federal protection and push for an Endangered Platforms Act. The Amigans would get right behind them!

    Bearcat

    Corsair

    Mustang

    Sabre

    Tomcat

    Eagle

    Hornet

The problem with cougar is that panther, cougar, puma, and mountain lion are all the same species. Apple is using a black panther for OSX.3 which are actually leopards or jaguars with black fur instead of their usual coloration. So I guess they have already used the same cat twice with jaguar and panther so they can do what they want.

Here is a list of the 36 species of cats:

    Iriomote Cat

    Bornean Bay Cat

    Spanish Lynx

    Kodkod

    Chinese Mountain Cat

    Andean Mountain Cat

    Rusty-spotted Cat

    Black-footed Cat

    Flat-headed Cat

    Tiger

    Fishing Cat

    Snow Leopard

    Marbled Cat

    African Golden Cat

    Asiatic Golden Cat

    Clouded Leopard

    Geoffreys Cat

    Tiger Cat

    Pampas Cat

    Canadian Lynx

    Palas Cat

    Sand Cat

    Margay

    Lion

    Bobcat

    Cheetah

    Serval

    Jungle Cat

    Leopard Cat

    Jaguar

    Ocelot

    Jaguarundi

    Eurasian Lynx

    Puma

    Caracal

    Leopard

    Wildcat

I've long believed it'll be Lynx. Short and snappy, hasn't been used, looks cool (the "y" and "x"), etc.

"Wildcat" sounds like a high school football team, so no.

"Tiger"? Too common and expected. "Lion"? Same thing.

And they're not going to go with something no one's ever heard of "Spotted Northeastern Pine Pussy" or whatever.

I do like the snake thing mentioned earlier. Lots of cool words to mine in that: copperhead, diamondback, python, cobra, mamba, viper, etc.

But a big snakeskin "X" might look kinda lame, in a 80's hair-metal kinda way...
