Oh, did I stutter? Everybody gone all quiet and shit? About a minute ago it was like an evening at the Apollo up in this mother****er, now all of a sudden it's quiet as a church...
Some guy who works out at my gym (I know, I know) who supposedly has connections to some marketing people for Apple said, "Yeah, the updates will be tomorrow."
Grain of salt, of course (this is Messiahtosh's third hand source).
If there were an Apple event I would expect a pre-anouncement, but without one there is no need. A silent updatewould probably be shipping immediately.
I wouldn't expect 3.0 Ghz without an Apple event either.
As an owner of a dual 2gig I have to say there is part of me that wishes Apple never releases another machine again. It's been nice at the top for the past four or five months.
However, it's really good news if true. Hopefully this shows that the 970 family of chips has headroom and we will see a steady stream of updates from IBM over the next couple of years. A relatively cool 2.5 970fx PMac will definitely be noticed over in x86 land, to say the least.

We're all busy downloading 10.3.3 of course!

Yes... the timing would be just right...
... which means it's not going to happen. \

Always always ALWAYS break the old machine AFTER the new product announcement.
Why? Well, honestly...how damn long can such a boring, niche item like File-f***ing-Maker be given prominent, home-page status?
[ducks] Okay, okay...it's not "niche" I guess. But honestly...does anyone outside certain segment really give a flip? Certainly not more than a week's worth of a flip, I'd imagine. I mean, anyone who's into it and uses it has already seen the home-page 48 times since it went up last week. It ain't that exciting, I don't care how widely used it is. Absolutely lacks in "ooh, ahh" appeal.
THAT is a one week front page resident if there's ever been one. Two weeks, MAX...and that's pushing it.
The ugly thing's already been up there nearly a week, right? I don't see it sitting up there another two or so weeks until April, so SOMETHING has to come: G5s, new displays, updated PowerBooks, some sort of new and worthwhile software update (Final Cut Pro Porno Edition, etc.), etc.
If that FileMaker stuff is still up there this time next week, I'll absolutely puke.

I don't think you're right, but even if I did I'd still take that bet as a hedge.
