Well what ever you think of Kerry I hate to think what another 4 years ( with no incentive to be reelected ) will bring.

Which is part of the reason I'll not be voting for Bush this fall.

Probably not as much as you think.

The Electoral college is about giving Middle America the chance to help pick the President.

Take it away, and you'll probably have the Presidency being picked by L.A., N.Y. and a dozen other cities.

That's an exercise in regional alienation. Canadians are experts at regional alienation, and if you think your politics is bad now, think of what happens when a large slice of the country thinks their voices don't matter.

    No taxation without representation. Indeed.

But to joke about the now defunct rationale for invading another country- to joke about the reason for sending in hundreds of thousands of troops, killing nearly 600 of them and wounding thousands, killing thousands of Iraqi civilians- to joke about that is beyond reprehensible.

    The President disagrees. (article here

Ehh. Not sure I believe this. That sounds like discrimination towards California,NY etc etc. I know, I know what the argument is. The EC already "assigns" more value to some votes indirectly IMO. It was designed for life many years ago. It's the 21st century now. IMO it's obsolete.

Without the EC, every vote would count just the same. Best system would be to win by majority.

I don't know. I wouldn't say this is 'everything'. Your opinion appears to be close to saying people can't be offended about anything, and that's too extreme.

I think Shawn's original assessment was rather rational. Self-deprecating humor is awesome. Making fun of a false motive for killing lots of people is not. That's actually one sign of a sociopath.

Khan's incident is more than a month old. The US yesterday lifted all sanctions against Pakisthan and termed it as the most important non-NATO ally. This makes way for more aid to flow into the nation which will 'aid' transition to a democratic nation. *cough*

Not voting is not the answer when you are caught between the devil and the deep sea. If 100% of americans decided to vote and 90% voted for democrats this time around, it would send the strongest message of condemnation for the actions of the republican rule. This would put fear into the party and they would learn to respect public opinion and give more priority to what really matters.

Well... the media has focused on WMDs... so people think that they are the ONLY reason the US is involved. It is NOT the only reason. When WMDs are one area that has not been resolved, then Bush's enemies are rewriting history to claim that WMDs were the only reason, to paint the Iraq II war as a failure.

WMDs were NOT THE ONLY REASON FOR ACTION IN IRAQ.

US action has set millions free from a brutal dictatorship. That is plenty of justification for me.

The were they only reason that could be deemed legitimate, legal and allowable. And if Saddam's dictatorship was so brutal, tell me how many political prisoners died during the last few years he was in power.

Wow. You've got to be kidding. Hold on...perhaps I've missed something. Saddam wasn't brutal? Are you serious?

I don't know how many. Neither do you. Most of them ended up in mass graves that are all over the country.

I'm asking someone to support their claims, and they can't. That means their hyperbolic claim is worthless and should be removed from the argument.

Perhaps you should have seen the History Channel's recent shows about Saddam and his two boys.
