This is german, but written as you'd speak it in some parts of germany.
I said: "Hey Boy, now sharpen your ears and listen to what I have to say! I believe they won't understand this anyways, those sneaky rats? "

And this is swiss-german how you speak it in parts of Switzerland. Note however that even in swiss-german there are differences, because it's a purely spoken language; there's no official writing.
I said: "Such bullshit. I mean, no-one will understand this anyways."

Hehe... when I go back home this summer my friends will pound me in my ass for it, I am certain. :
The presence of non-English threads on a board, if not specifically against the rules of the site (which can be purely arbitrary as is their right as owner/operators) is "tough $?!?" for the people that don't like them.
Seriously, what is the difference (aside from the "visual clutter" that a foreign language might introduce) between a foreign language thread and a thread that is of a subject that you are wholly disinterested in?
If you see a "South Park" thread and could care less about it how is that any different than a thread in another language? That it might pique your curiosity is one thing, but to tell others they cannot talk in the language they are most comfortable in is outrageous.
We are all free individuals and respect for a person's second-language skills or lack thereof should trump any selfish need to have everyone speak your language or that of the predominant group.
There is no god given right to only see things in your language, everywhere you go.
Note: I am not talking specifics. I am not "blaming" Americans or English speakers or making "Chinese" the victims. Nor am I saying that a given nation shouldn't have an official language.
But a web forum is not a nation. It is not one group who speak only one language.
When it is your turn to speak on a foreign board, you should be able to expect to receive replies in the language that you use without being berated for not being fluent in the predominant language of that board.
This idea of "majority = 'right' and 'the ones in control'" is very relative and subject to change over time. So it would be wise to tolerate (at worst ignore) other languages that bother you, because someday, somewhere, you might find yourself wanting (or needing!) to be free to express yourself in your own language without being flamed for doing so.
Suggestion: If you see a thread in another language - skip it. (Assuming you aren't curious enough to post in your own language or theirs to see what's going on).
What is so hard about that?
Suggestion: Let threads be in whatever language the thread starter uses. The horror.
This is not the same as my opinion on living in a given country of community. Sure, it's wonderful to accept and embrace the language that they use, to be respectful and make things easier. It's just downright practical if nothing else.
Anyone might see a dozen threads a day that they are completely disinterested in, or disgusted or angered by in their own language. You ignore them, so why not ignore foreign language threads?
We are all mutual and equal guests (despite post counts) of any given site. Barring official mandate from a site's owners to post only in one language, the members ought to get along and be tolerant and frankly, GLAD that the extra people are contributing to page hit counts and thereby paying the bills for the site.
I have no doubt there are other intolerant people on other sites in other countries and languages, that demand (just as wrongly) English speakers to use their language and not English. So this isn't an "American" thing.
Don't like something? Move along. Just my suggestion for a less hostile place.
I don't mind if you wanna post twice in a row, as log as the content of the posts needs their own space. You are jotting down one or two sentences per post, this is annoying and a blunt way of increasing your postcount.
There is no need for you to put up three post when one will do!
If you wanna add something that you may have forgot... use this:
If you want to address two things in one post... put them in seperate paragraphs... you know, one for each thought.
