Have you tried deleting your preferences? Open up the terminal and enter the command rm -R ~/.mozilla to remove the Mach-O Mozilla and Chimera prefs. Regular Mozilla keeps its prefs in ~/Library/Mozilla. Also, I believe Mach-O requires some special compile settings to build and launch properly. I'd suggest simply downloading a Mach-O binary from <a href="http://homepage.mac.com/risc_abacus/" target="_blank">Riscky Workings</a>.

Chimera can't officially be called Chimera because there was already a UNIX browser called Chimera that still owns the rights to that name. That's why they've changed the name to Navigator.

Fair enough, how about Chimaera?
Actually, how about *anything* more creative than "Navigator"...
okay, I'll stop whining now, it's still a great browser!
Version 0.2.4 is out now and does include support for some plug-ins. I just finished a QT movie trailer (MIB II) and visited <a href="http://mmicons.com" target="_blank">http://mmicons.com</a> that is a very interactive Flash site. Flash is so-so and needs work as the site escaped the browsers borders and spilled over the navigation and status bars. The developers are saying it is highly crash prone on plug-in pages and only out for a lookeee here see whats going on preview. They recomend keeping 0.2.3 for a back up if you happen to use Chimera as your primary browser. Like me.
My, my, my... I get occupied with work in the *real world* and another fabulous update is released without my knowledge! [quote]Plugins plugins plugins! Quicktime seems to work rather well, but Flash still has several crashers. Pages with Flash *will* be unstable in this build. Do not replace 0.2.3 with this build unless you like living on the edge.
- Gamma correction has been returned (hopefully) to the 0.2.1 level.
- Font defaults have been tweaked a fair bit to hopefully provide a better default browsing experience than 0.2.3.
- Popups now position themselves better. (I won't go so far as to say "properly", but they're better.)
- Textareas now have an Aqua appearance (this was left out of 0.2.3).<hr></blockquote>I am VERY pleased with the 0.2.4 build. Fonts and colors are managed MUCH better than with 0.2.3 and *gasp* QuickTime actually works! Wow. Chimera may very well replace OmniWeb as my default in the near future.
Plugin support has been greatly improved. Crashes when scrolling pages with Flash have been fixed. This build is generally much more stable with plugins than 0.2.4. Plugins will now stay inside the window and not paint on your toolbars and status bar.
The ability to choose your renderer has been fully implemented. From the View menu, you can select "Smooth Text" to use Quartz anti-aliasing. If you turn this option off, you will be using Quickdraw un-antialiased text. International users can turn off the Quartz anti-aliasing to view non-Roman characters. This can also be used as a good debugging tool to find out whether performance or rendering problems are specific to our Quartz rendering implementation.
Menulist popups will now position themselves properly when the page is scrolled.
You can now drag and drop links from a page onto Gecko windows to load the URL in that window. <hr></blockquote>
The speed of Chimera/Navigator 0.2.5 is really impressive! I can't wait to be able to change my preferences and ditch IE for good. Chimera reminds me more and more of the good time when Netscape Navigator was years ahead of IE.
Does anybody know whether the team is going to implement a function that prevents pop-up and pop-under windows like in OmniWeb? With the recent increase in annoying pop-up ads, that function is absolutely essential.
and set it to true (browser must not be running when you make the change).</strong><hr></blockquote>
It's mostly nytimes.com, but also versiontracker.com and macnn.com. I haven't tested it out much since Chimera is not yet my primary browser. However, to my great (positive) suprise, I just went to the NY Times web site. and I got a menubox stating that the website had just tried to open an unauthorized popup window (probably an ad) and whether I would want to disable popups. Chimera kicks ass! To me, eliminating popup ads is even more important than plugin support, and it already works at this early stage. Kudos to the Chimera development team!

PS: I am positng this from Chimera 0.2.5 and still having minor issues with the text box. But I'm sure it'll get better with more revisions.
StarfleetX, please stop editing this same post. It's annoying. Just post a new thread, so that new discussion can occur. Otherwise it gets too confusing and there are just too many edits.

Is anyone else having trouble?

As far as I can tell 0.2.5 is just as rad an improvement as all the others have been!
Microsoft better keep an eye on this one...we're not even to version 1.0 yet, and it's gettin' dang close to being a complete replacement for me!
Rock on Chimera!!
<img src="graemlins/smokin.gif" border="0" alt="[Chilling]" />
Rendering is definitely faster using the older Carbon font smoothing calls. That's probably Apple's fault, though. <img src="graemlins/hmmm.gif" border="0" alt="[Hmmm]" />

I know it's sad, a full forum just for a browser, but I was all over it as soon as I heard of it.
New features!
* Import bookmarks from Mozilla, Netscape, Internet Explorer, or Omniweb. This should make some of new converts much happier.
* View Page Source is working. By default, it loads the source into a new tab in the same window.
* Proxy support! Chimera should now respect the settings in your System Prefs Network pane. Bill M: please let us know if this works.

Hopefully they will post a new version sometime soon, as it seems I am not alone.
Others who have got it runnung have said that the form controls seem broken.
Anyways at the rate the post new versions I won't have to wait too long.
