You'd rather have a dozen or more threads on the same general subject? Eh, fine with me. I just thought it was better keeping it all in one central location so we don't get redundant threads or people asking questions or reporting problems that were already known in previous versions (and thus previous threads).

If it bothers you so much, I will stop posting here and start making new threads for every single release.

I had the same problem. I couldn't log in here with it. Too bad. I finally get my bookmarks imported easily and now I can't really use it. Maybe the next release...

I think there's a general problem with buttons, forums and the like. 0.2.5 was the first version in which I managed to post in a forum successfully.

I'm pretty sure that when this happens, almost all of the links on the page you're browsing become unresponsive - what has everyone else found?

It's just too confusing otherwise. Plus, everytime I click on this thread from the main forums listing it goes to the first page, and I have to load the first page, including all of the screenshots and stuff I've already seen, then load up the second page, and then just scroll down to find that there were no more comments of any merit, or you just changed the post.

Dozens is a bit of a stretch. I mean, it seems like every week or so there's a new .1 version out. Sometimes less. But this is pretty important.. Chimera is going to be HUGE for Apple and OS X in the future. It's got massive speed, it's got a beautiful interface (and most importantly, it's within Aqua guidelines), great rendering, and it's being worked on really hard. It's one of the future Mac browser possibilities, and that's been an issue lately, with Macs (browsing). So it's a big thing that a lot of us are interested in, I don't think anyone will get sick of a few more threads that aren't about iSoftware this or iSoftware that around here.

Besides, a few more threads may well get it some more attention, and more downloads, thus more momentum. And that sure can't hurt!

I'd post them myself, but.. I just don't know how you get these updates so quick, not to mention the prereleases.

Give me a break, Brad! You could simply click on the "2" in the topic headings and get straight to the latest page in the thread. Personally, I wish everybody in these fora would have the discipline to maintain single threads on single topics, like starfleetX has been doing. Especially for the people who don't have the time to check for new threads (Chimera or other) every day or minute, a unified thread is far superior.

Back on topic, I have two questions: (1) How do you use the new import bookmarks feature? I can't find the function in any of the menus. (2) Can I edit my preferences manually to change my homepage from a blank page to something else? If yes, how do I do that? TIA.

Just rename the thread "Chimera Updates Discussion" or something and leave it like that.

    kids, kids... Escher/Starfleet are right.

One thread is best. I'll try to see if i can get some manner of hack cooked up that would allow you to go straight to the last post in the thread from the front page... no promises though.

I disagree. A thread for each of the new betas is not that big of a deal. It's no more "right" or "wrong" than doing it this way in the first place. And what's up with the "kids, kids"? Is it now juvenile to bring up any kind of criticism about something that I think could be different?

If somebody is going to post, they're going to post in one thread or another. Making separate threads for each of the versions to organize it better is a perfectly logical idea. This isn't an email discussion list where we're tied to a certain subject line for organization, we can have separate topics for branches of a similar topic of discussion. It's not about me having to load two more pages than I should have to, it's about using this to our advantage.

it's a petty argument. hence the kids, kids.

it is well within the forum-wide guideline of a minimum of threads about a particular topic to be doing this sort of perpetual thread.

Just wanted to report that 0.2.6 does indeed work with proxy settings in the Network Preferences Pane.

    Thanks for the confirmation Bill.

FYI, William fixed the form control bug Monday and Mike was supposed to put out a new binary on Tuesday. Hopefully he can get the crash-on-launch bug that some of you are encountering fixed by 0.2.7 also.

Thanks for the answers, starfleetX. Now if I could only drag and drop the bookmarks to reorganize them.

As for changing the homepage, for some reason Chimera has been starting up on my personal homepage, without me telling it to do so. I image it has something to do with the fact that I always load my homepage first, or that it was the first link that I added to my bookmarks. In any case, I'm sure that editing preferences will be implemented soon enough.

Jonathan: Thank you for confirming what is a longstanding AI boards policy. PS: It was nice to see your face on the AI members site.

What's New (0.2.6 -> 0.2.7) You can now drag the page proxy icon from the URL bar to the personal toolbar or to the bookmarks in the drawer.

The proxy icon can be dragged to the tab strip (as can bookmarks from the drawer) to create new tabs.

You can now reorder your bookmarks using drag and drop in the drawer.

The key bindings for back and forward have been changed from arrows to the bracket keys.

The bug with not being able to type in forms on your home page has been fixed.

Damn. I can't believe those buggers on the mailing list actually got them to change from the arrow keys to the brackets...

Just out of curiosity, who here would rather keep back/forward on the traditional left/right arrow keys like all other web browsers?

Yeah, 0.2.7 is a good upgrade overall, but I hate these new key bindings.

In addition, the new bindings are sure to wreak havoc on people with non-US keyboards.

Ack! yes, my vote is in for going back to arrow keys!

Anyway, Chimera is great, with pulgin support and bookmark importing and organization, it is coming closer and closer to becoming my primary browser. Oh, maybe I'm just missing something, but how does one go about closing an individual browser tab?

Whoa - I second that emoticon...

Leave it at the arrow keys like other browsers... a standard that makes sense!

Agreed, it's not the best solution. Hopefully they'll add a close button/widget somewhere similar to Mozilla. Here's a little 2-minute mockup I made.
