I am surprised that so many here seem to like cord-attached mice. To each their own I suppose. Personally, one of the many great things about my iMac for me is that there is only one cord on my desk, the power cord running to the out of the way power strip.

I would like cordless but there is a higher cost and the Bluetooth mice I've tried seem a little laggy and imprecise.

Previous BT mice I had with my PC definitely had a lag, but I have to say that neither the Apple BT keyboard nor Apple BT mouse bundled with my Core Due iMac are exhibiting any lag at all. I don't know how much of that is down to an improvement to the peripherals and how much is down to an improvement in BT implementation. I just know that, for me, with this setup it works really well for the first time.

I don't like cords either but I refuse to use the bt 1 button mouse. Also for some reason almost no places in canada seem to carry other company's bt mice(i only see bt keyboard+mice bundles and already use the apple bt keyboard) and I won't buy one online but I want to be able to simply walk back into the store to return it if need be.

So I'm camping out waiting on a apple bt mighty mouse but this wait is killing me so i might just cave and get a logitech mx1000 or some MS rf mouse. Originally I wanted all my shit to match but now I don't even care I just want a good bt mouse I can buy in a store. But no one will deliver so it looks like rf it is.

My current BT mouse is a Logitech MX900, and it was connected to a MacBook Pro. I won't use Apple's current desktop keyboard or their current BT mouse. I don't like the Apple desktop keyboard's key mechanism and I simply cannot stand to use a single button mouse.

For my main machine, in my keyboard draw, I use an Apple wireless keyboard. It's ok. But, I simply must have a trackball, and the two that I find to be the best are the Logitech's and the MS Trackball Optical. Both, for two reasons. One is that the ball is operated by the thumb, which means that your hand never moves around the unit, but stays in the same place over the keys all of the time. Two is because they have more controls, located right where your fingers want to be. The MS is better, because it has one more button. Both can be operated as normal two button mice, or with USB Overdrive, rather than with their own software, which is the way I use them.

So, until one of these, or something like them, comes out with Bluetooth, I'm stuck with these. But, a cord on a trackball is no big deal, as it doesn't have to move.

The only reason why I went to the wireless keyboard was because I have so many coards under the desk, that the one for the keyboard always got caught on something when I pulled the drawer out.

Alright then. I'm a fan of the corded mouse as well. My current mouse has no cord, but it operates like a corded mouse so it doesn't count. The non corded mice I've come across have to charge, or need batteries, and have lag issues associated with their use. Direct input it the way to go for me. I could never use a battery operated mouse, or one that needed recharging. They really seem to suck ass IMO.

As I said my current mouse doesn't count, but that is because it's a 5 button wacom mouse, or pen, and I think it uses a magnet, or something on my wacom tablet, but it has no battery; therefore no charging issues. And I actually like it better than a corded mouse because the 12"x12" tablet acts as my screen space, and I never loose my spot. I can reach right to it on my tablet, and well.. you get what what I mean. It's almost like using a touch screen.

    totally agree on that one.

    tablets are the best.

Not a big fan of the MM. sometimes the right click doesn't register and the trackball gets way too easily dirty, making it unresponsive. And that's with BOTH of my MM. thus making it a design flaw (in case anyone wanted to argue that).

    edit: typo's

It's not just you. There have been a great many threads in Current Hardware complaining about the scroll ball jamming, I don't think there is any reasonable contest that it is a problem in the design. The current solutions are to return the MM for refund or replacement, or perform some sort cleaning.

What many others do, and what I do, is press down harder on the ball while forcing it to roll, it scrapes on the socket it is inside, repeat as necessary, scrolling side to side and up and down. It seems to clear up the issue for a month or two for me.

If someone does want to argue it, there are threads in Current Hardware where you can easily find one to discuss it.

Tablets are great, but I've never been able to really get used to them. I find the "tablet" mode to be ineffecient for general mousing around due to it's exact mapping of the screen, and I think that Wacon's mouse is to bulky and has too many buttons. That's just my opinion and there are a number of people in the office that have switched almost entriely to tablets. The Might Mouse is OK, but I have set it up as a 1 button mouse with scroll wheel becouse I have noticed a tendency for it to right click when I'm trying to left click.

One thing I'd really love to get is the (I think Wacom) tablet that acts as monitor too, so the direct mapping makes intuitive sense for a person used to drawing by hand.

I've read some luke-warm review of that, not it's quality but the "Feel" of using one. Apparently the thickness of the glass is enough to make it "Feel" odd to some people. Not having used one I can't really comment on it though.

That does look incredible. If only I had the money and the ability to reconcile such a purchase.
