er... Because they haven't webcast a keynote of any event live for a few years now? They usually post a cast within 30 mins of it ending.

I don't know if they've ever done a live WWDC stream... IIRC they didn't do those even when they were live streaming Macworld.

They had live streams of the 2003 keynote, but only in Apple Stores and over satellite.

Apple will most likely not stream the keynote speech live so which web site(s) will automatically refresh every three minutes with updates:

9:00 - Steve walks on the stage and says "Good morning..."

9:03 - Update on iPod sales and iTMS downloads/content. Mentions Microsoft's Zune and has a chart showing sales of Zunes/iPods and number of downloads from each music store. iPod is clearly the winner.

9:09 - OS X history and usage numbers

    9:12 - Apple FTFF!

9:15 - If you are using PathFinder then you will feel right at home.

    ...etc...

    10:47 - Leopard will be out Q1 of 2007.

10:50 - Just one more thing. Movie rentals on iTMS.

    10:55 - musical guest

    <Come down from high/>

    "I just place my order..."

    "UK Store is still down"

"Where is the second drive bay?/Second drive bay. Way to go Apple!"

"No true video iPod, and no wireless. Screw Apple, I'm getting a Zune!"

"Still not Q2DE? Vista is going to walk all over OS X!.

"I guess we will have to wait for MWSF2007."

    "Come on MWSF!

That is/ was an AWESOME prediction, with the dripfeeding of tiny morsels of info from websites, and then especially the bitching at the end - it's always mostly

"OMFG I'm placing my order RIGHT NOW!!!one!11one" OR

"Sh1t it's not in the UK or Australia or [insert non-USA country] store yet!" OR

otherwise various things to the effect of

"This sucks, way to go Apple, "

    Prediction:

"OMFG they didn't put in SLI/Crossfire!!! WTF!!!"

Congrats. I found out I have a very good chance at getting the TAing job (knock on wood), which was a requirement from my parents for a computer. All I need to do is try to get my trust fund to pay for part of it. Yes...quad-core workstation w/ Nvidia 7x00XX is totally vital to my education...of course. Back me up here guys...

If they go ATI they'll ship with a decent X1600 or otherwise move up to some X1800. If they go nVidia it will definitely be a 7-series. So graphics-wise, you're covered, and we're behind you buddy

As for getting a Quad-Core Mac Pro, I don't know. I may just write an explanatory note to your parents on why it is COMPLETE OVERKILL for your needs

Don't make me come over there.

Seriously though, I bet I could use those 4 cores, if I was using eyeTV EZ, Folding @Home, and Blender at the same time I was compiling something.

Actually, once I get it (if I do), right after I load it with everything I want to put on it (I have a large list of free software, and some shareware), I want to see how hard it is to max out. Just to see usage hit 400%.

That seems to be the one thing that everybody forgets about multiprocessor, and multi GPU systems. It really helps when you have multiple apps running continuously in a pipeline.

One thing to do is to set up several monitors and see how many HD video clips you can loop simultaneously before it stutters.

So how many computers will be updated? I'm hoping for the core 2 Duo in the iMac. I'm also guessing the Mac Pro and MacBook Pro with core 2 Duo Will be announced.

This thread is giving me a weird vive...

All I can come up with is that this thread needs a theme song, and I think that The Pointer Sisters have it...

I have a sneaky feeling Steve will demo a Quad-core with 4 cores maxed at 100% while running only 1 program, say Final Cut Studio encoding or maybe even 1 non-multi-processor-aware program that's multithreaded to max cores by the Leopard OS. Followed by a standing ovation.

Pointer Sisters? What are you, fifty years old or something? I was thinking this morning, Jay-Z vs Linkin Park "Numb/ Encore" - Sing along to the tune:

Thank you, thank you, thank you, you're far too kind

Now can I get an encore, do you want more

Cookin raw with the Valley boyz

So for one last time I need y'all to roar

Now what the hell are you waitin for

After Leopard, there shall be no more

So for one last time, developers, make some noise...!

    Get em Steve

Who you know fresher than Jobz'? Riddle me that

The rest of y'all know where I'm technologic at

Can't none of y'all code me back

Yeah hearin me keynote is like hearin, well, me in my prime

    I'm, young S.J., way past N.E.X.T.

Back to take over the globe, now break Vista

I'm in, my private jet, beat Fed Express

Out the country but the MacBook still connect

On the low but my office got a triple deck

But when you in da Zone, what the fuck you expect? Yep, yep

    Grand openin, grand closin

God your man Jobz' got one more thing again

Who you gon' find doper than him with a Mac

    Just draw off my inspiration

Soon you gon' see you can't replace me

With a cheap imitation from Taiwan an' China

Now can I get an encore, do you want more

Cookin raw with the Valley boyz

So for one last time I need y'all to roar

Now what the hell are you waitin for

After Leopard, there shall be no more

So for one last time, developers, make some noise...!

What the hell are you waiting for

[sighs] Look what you made me do, look what Ives made for you

Knew if they paid my salary, how will you pay Apple

When I first come to the game, Gates tried to play me

Then you drop some Macs and 'Pods, look how they wave to me

From the SanFran AppleStore to Fifth Ave

To the only thing that matters in my mind (yea)

As fate would have it, Jobz's status appears

To be at an all-time high, perfect time to say f*** you

When I come back like Jordan, wearin the 10.5

It ain't to play 3D games

It's to aim at you, probably maim your Bill

If I owe you I'm blowin Windows to smithereeens

Virus-sucker take one for your team

And I need you to remember one thing (one X)

    I came, I saw, I conquered

From iTunes sales, to sold out MacBooks

So muh'fucker if you want this encore

I need you to scream, 'til your lungs get sore

I'm tired of making what all you want me to make

Damn iPhones and Tablets, lost tryin' to SLI

Don't know what you're expecting of me

Put under the pressure of meeting your speeds

(Caught in the devFlow just caught in the Intel show)

Every step that I take is not good enough for you

(Caught in the 'Podflow just caught in da G.H.Z show)

And every second Phil wastes is more than I can take

I've become so numb I can't feel you there

I've become so tired so much more aware

I'm becoming this all I want to do

Is be more like me and be less like you

    I've become so numb

Can I get an encore developers, do you want more (more...)

    I've become so numb

So for one last time I need y'all to roar

One last time I need y'all to roar developers...!!!
