Thanks, EmAn. It seems to have the most impact and "staying power". People remember it over a year later, while most of my others have long been discarded and forgotten...some rightfully so.
I think this was one of my first attempts at doing the "Illustrator mock-up thing". Certainly my most detailed and labored-over.
I made a Pineapple (golden yellow) version of it afterwards, for my own jollies, that actually looked really snazzy.
The thing I really agree with them about is the lack of G5s at MWSF. Sorry everyone.

I wouldn't count it out for one main reason.... there is literally NO information about the PowerMacs. They have to be getting updated yet there has been no info leaked.
A rocking iMac... heh. Not bad on the eyes. At least it's more unique than an Apple Studio Display ripoff, like 95% of the iMac mockups are. (cough)
Anyway, I'd really like to see an iBook-styled LCD display with pivot on a long rod with a counterbalance on the otherside, connected to a stand, the base of which contains optical drives and I/O. Kinda like this one (possibly B+O) Apple Design prototype of the early to mid 90s, if I knew where a picture of it was I would post.

Clear your throat...you've got something in it.
I've done a few that were pretty original and based on nothing but my own goofy vision. But they were pretty weird. But a good kinda weird.
I don't post EVERYTHING I do here, you know...
As someone said above, seems to be about three ways to go with an LCD all-in-one design. I mean, there are certainly MORE than three, but you start getting into serious bulk and all.
I've tackled two of them. Never did a "base unit on bottom with LCD attached to top" look.
Mike's "rocking" thing looks nice, but it seems so fragile. If a cat jumped up on your desk or if you had a brat nephew over who always touched and messed with stuff...
let's just say that steve still has final say on everything. right or wrong, that's the way he likes it....
...and steve has NOT GIVEN UP on his preference for BASIC 3D SHAPES (a la the cube).

So sombody make a pyramid iMac... Basic 3d shape. Guts at the bottom, display attached to the side. Convection cooling out the top..... ya think?

Aww, I was hoping you'd more pick up on my cool idea. Guess I'll have to show a picture of it then, imagine this iPlasticized, and.. taller or something:

nah... pyramid has too many sharp angles and points. maybe i can assemble a rough mock-up by showtime... hmmm, where'd i put that copy of illustrator?
When I see MOSR's mockup, along with really no info on the other products, it just makes me believe Apple's hype over the past week. The MOSR mockup is UGLY. No way is that the next iMac. This mockup confirms MOSR knows nothing. So I'm still expecting to order my G5 Monday afternoon...
pscates - your mockups are WAY better. Thanks for sharing them. And I speculate that your specs are right on - G4's in iMacs. But I think your DVD list needs updating...

A wider, flatter take on that (basically, large enough to hold all the "guts"), with...
Never mind. I'm delirious.
Whatever this new iMac is, I hope it has one feature that the previous one so sorely lacked: tilt and swivel capability!
It sucks to have to buy some third party riser or stand to get this very basic (and very useful and practical) function.
How nice would it be to be able to EASILY tilt the iMac's screen quite a bit back and forth AND to rotate it a good 160° left and right!

Oddly enough, I never made a tangerine version.
Hmm...

How come we never got to see it?

I don't think there'll be that many colors, if any.

Funny, I bet those specs did seem outrageous when you first posted that. Pretty reasonable now though (almost).

This one thinks out side the box.
I would buy it!!

Yeah, I remember when he first made it how the specs seemed ridiculous. Funny what happened is a year or so.

I should sketch up what I'm thinking...
