nah... pyramid has too many sharp angles and points. maybe i can assemble a rough mock-up by showtime... hmmm, where'd i put that copy of illustrator?

Sure there are angles and points, but only one sharp one, the top. Think of the cube, 8 points, lots of angles, suspended in a somwhat softer, and curved plastic surround. The pyramid could be the same way... It would sell big in the mystic sector too.
Guys, MOSR plainly states that the mock up is based on the avaible desciptions and some kid did it. They are not saying that mock up is the next iMac, only that will will be similar to the ideas behind it. Tilting monitor, small thick base, etc.
When I see MOSR's mockup, along with really no info on the other products, it just makes me believe Apple's hype over the past week. The MOSR mockup is UGLY. No way is that the next iMac. This mockup confirms MOSR knows nothing. So I'm still expecting to order my G5 Monday afternoon...
pscates - your mockups are WAY better. Thanks for sharing them. And I speculate that your specs are right on - G4's in iMacs. But I think your DVD list needs updating...

I wouldn't get your hopes up on the G5. I really would like to see one also, but I think we'll have the G4 to kick around for a little while longer. I think the main evidence is that the OS X 10.2 isn't going to be release late 2nd Q. This is the build that is reported to have the 64 bit support if I'm not mistaken.

I can't do anything about my hopes! You may be right - it makes sense that 10.2 would be needed. So March2002 may be the timeframe, but I'm still hoping!

Your right - but it just shows how little MOSR has. I'm not blaming MOSR (or AI) - it's a testament to the tight lid Apple has on. Which is why I believe the hype (though it may not mean G5 or every other thing we've wished for).
Not to knock the ability, but in the mock up, it's off balance and is about to fall backwards. Also, it will rock like a rocking chair. So don't use it in a room with a fan or with the AC vent pointed towards the desk. Sorry, but the design is not practical.
Oh I TOTALLY agree. Again, those were drawn (the lime and the backview color ones) a looooong time ago.
If I drew them today, they'd be white/silver.
Colors are SO gone...

hey, colors were a great idea... but also an awful idea all at the same time. i mean, i still really like the tangerine shell of the original "Yum" 5, but i ended up buying the graphite imac dv se... but if i had a way of easily buying a different colored shell, i might have one around, and switch it every once in a while -- if it was designed to be EASILY replaced.
but apple had to make models in all the colors equally, until they could figure out which ones sold the best, causing a LOT of waste.
though i would still like to find a cheap grape imac dv somewhere. put a fat hard drive in there, and it'd still be a spiffy little 'puter. heck, you could probably buy a dirt-cheap flower power, and just paint the interior of the shell black -- would you still be able to see the flower pattern? i wonder how that would look???

God. And you call your self a Mac user.If apple used this desing they would simply put a weight in the inside of it.
It would work sort of like this. If you have a jar on a table it will roll all over the palce. right? If you fill that jar half way up with sand it will not roll. Why? beacuse my friend gravity. You could now also push the jar and it would roll but right when you let go it would stop rolling. the same concept could be aplied on my iMac LCD.

Confused. Because I find fatal design errors in your design, my platform preference is called into question? Oh, because I am a mac user I'm not supposed to state the obvious? Not sure what your'e getting at here. Check your other thread and see my reply to your 'weight defies gravity even tho there's no balance" post.

I LOVED the colors (still do), but it's kinda winding down and time to move on. When you see that on other things now, you immediately go "ah, copying the iMac look..." and it has almost become overplayed and trite. Too easy, too expected, you know?
Believe me, it's going to break my heart to give up my little tangerine jellybean.
But it's going to a very, very close and dear friend, so...
Woz is on the board of Danger, Inc. MOSR claims it got this information from some "readers". If MOSR can see, they would notice that this is mentioned on the front page of the site! How can you believe MOSR (a rumor site, of course) when they're this stupid?

In this thread and the one that you originally posted the mockup in you've been arguing with everyone who doesn't agree with you. You gotta realize just because you think something it doesn't mean everyone has to agree. Just calm down and don't make comments about people because they don't share your opinion.

I like that one alot!

Is that deep enough for the optical drive?

I am sure it would be. And if not you could ether make the drive angaled into the back or just have the Drive on the side.

well, yeah, but you'd have a hard time selling me a computer half full of sand.

depends on what color the sand is.

Have a look here.
I got a flyer from the Sports Authority today with that thing on the cover. First time I saw it. I was tempted to scan it and drop off the image here.
