Did I read correctly what was posted in the previous page? It says more or less that the BD vs. HD-DVD battle has any meaning only in N. America. In Europe and Japan the result seems definite. Does this means that the game is already over?

    If the game's already over...

    SD-DVD is the winner.

Sorry, didn't mean to offend. I wasn't aware the PS3 had a whole lot to offer in terms of games yet. I only know one person who owns a PS3, and his Blu-Ray collection is twice that of his game collection.

Heh, yup. Sales of both HD formats is still a drop in the SD DVD bucket; everyday-consumers have yet to really cast a vote in the "war", as prices are just now starting to reach a reasonable range. And 80% of the world is still without an HDTV, so it's going to be some time yet.

UT3 was announced yesterday for December 10th I think. PS3 baby.

I can't freaking wait. In about two weeks I'll fragging mother fo's to hell and back, and every body else will be playing cheap UT imitations. "Cough" Halo "Cough"

Best game ever and the 360 version hasn't even been started.

Blu-ray and BD+ were developed and created by Sony. Fox is first to use.

UT3 does look good, although I don't do much of any online playing. Halo seems more like a high-class big-budget implementation of Marathon than a "cheap UT imitation" to me, but that's neither here nor there

If you aren't sure or base your assumptions on "ONE" person then it looks like FUD.

and as to BD collections being bigger than game collections, well DUH! I watch my movie for 1.5 - 2 hrs, but I play my game for 10's of hours figure I need a new game every evening? or just go back to level 4 of Motorstorm?

this was exactly the same for the PS2 and DVDs

It just sounds like your talking outta your ass

oh yeah, and Assassins Creed on PS3 is outselling the 360 version in parts of Europe. Ca-Ching!

Not to derail the thread more... but I can't stand and refuse to play FPS games on a console. Why not play them on a computer with better controls, better graphics, more flexible Voice chat... I will NOT buy a fps on a console ever again.

I have a friend who's the same way, but it's because he isn't as good. When I played Raibow six and went from PC to console, I thought I was going to die. But once I tried COD4, I was hooked.

Besides, no hacks on a console. Tons of people cheat online. That's another big thing for me. And as for graphics, it's never been noticable to me.

If you took the time and were good on a console, I'm sure you wouldn't mind as much.

I haven't really ran into that with Battlefield 2. Sure there are hacks, but they are extremely obvious and they get your account and cd key banned.

Either way, The whole point here is that there ARE games for ps3. I'm extremely happy gamewise on my ps3. Just Ninja Gaiden, DiRT, and Madden 08 will keep me occupied for at least a year.

It's funny that you can not talk about BD without talking about PS3. It must be the PS3 format for sure. Was there another movie media format on the PSP? Whatever happened to that?

How much of a problem is madden? I heard it was pretty rough, with stupid EA porting the game to the PS3.

But you're right. A bunch of exclusives, more than enough to keep you occupied until more come out. I still wish people would come to reason when it comes to consoles and just get a PS3.

It's by far the superior console.

    @bite:

Really though, they were going to get rid of it, but never have. It never really took off, but it's still around.

I haven't had 1 issue with madden. I guess if you count a slight hiccups in the graphics motion in between quarters as it is scanning the main clock. That could be a reading problem?

Other than that... I haven't had any issues. I think EA gets a bad rap more than any other company because of the amount of games they produce. The different departments within the company. I'm sure it is hectic having to develop for Windows, ps1, ps2, ps3, xbox, xbox 360, mac, Wii, etc.

For the most part BF2 ran great for the last year. There was a bug with the whole game where 9 out of 10 servers weren't logging your points for 2 weeks. But they fixed that and gave everyone 2500 points during that time if they played.

But you guys are right. I feel there is something to be said that you can't talk about blu-ray w/o talking about ps3. I think I used my ps2 to watch a dvd one time. And I owned it since the day it came out (heh I thought 350 was expensive). I don't like using my ps3 as my blu-ray player. Luckily I am not watching many blu-ray movies because I only own 5 movies. I don't want the drive to wear out by watching nothing but blu-ray. I know it isn't much, but it's that much less.

I have a Sony 5 disc carousel upconverting dvd player. It is hooked up to my plasma via hdmi. I like having 5 disc carousel for many reasons. If there was a dual format multi-disc player, I'd buy it in a heart beat.

On the same token, I gotta admit... upconverted dvds on my plasma look REALLY GOOD. As good as blu-ray?? No... BUT VERY CLOSE. Close enough that I can think I'll be happy with it until dual format players come out.

Again a lot of my movies still aren't even available! Gangs of New York, Snatch, Fight Club, Death to Smoochy... Guess I'll have to settle for upconverted dvd for a bit longer eh?

I doubt the drive will wear down for quite a while. Have you read the article about when they tested the PS3 running games and movies for 108 hours straight in 120 F heat, then another 108 hours at 0 F?

    Still worked fine. :P

But it's true, Bluray is such a big part of the PS3, and is a big factor in all of this. The PS3 is SO capable..

Heck, in the next year it'll be able to play computer games..
