    Maybe the tabs would look more like the ones in iTunes iPod summary.

    You probably mightn't believe me if I told you, but I was just thinking about myself. We can try both and see which one looks best.

    I was gonna go for that look but I think it's to plain for Apple.com. I'll do some more tonight.

    That's very professionally done - good work.

    I have to say, I think the iTunes-style tabs are very unattractive and un-Apple. I'm glad they introduced that whole iPod management module to iTunes (beats going through Prefs) but it looks like a web page, and not a very good one. If they want to make the layout more "loose" like that, they should talk to whoever designs their magazine-like web pages (e.g. http://www.apple.com/mightymouse/)

    While we're on that subject, I was really hoping that Leopard would look something like that - even more white, light, and "airy." But, oh well.

    Tabs have always been a little problematic in OS X (remember these ugly things? http://arstechnica.com/reviews/003/p...s-panther.png). My favorite implementation is the one in Preferences - square icons at the top. It takes up room, but hey, we've got big screens nowadays.

    Posted this one a while ago (perhaps 2 years?), but it still makes me snicker.

    @Max? Try and do one with these specifications;

    .

    .

    Make the light tabs above, the same color as this color below, and make the Apple tab, and the thin bar going across a touch lighter than their current colors, i.e.;

    Then make the "Hardware" subsection-tab this color, taken from iTunes 7;

    Cheers! Looking forward to the results, you're a legend!

    Together we'll make a new Apple.com

    By the way... it's worth noting that Apple usually updates the website at the time of an OS system release. I think the updated website will come with Leopard, not MWSF... but carry on!

    Thank you Ireland for your ideas and encouragement! (Dude, you rock!) The Tony pic just encouraged me to do another version conforming to your specs. Check:

    My New, 50% Lighter Version

    I think our ideas have combined to make something wicked! Rock on! <hook 'em horns>

    Since you mentioned streaming how about "Front Row Xstream"?

    I Rock? No you Rock!! Beautiful work my friend.. almost perfection! I'd be interested to see what happens if you do two more smallish tweeks;

    1. Get rid of this line;

    2. Make font, this bold;

    This font could stay unbold;

    ..only selected tabs would need to be bold IMO, i.e. the  tab, and the all the words on the thin bar going across.

    Cheers man, keep on rockin'!!

    Ok, here goes:

    My New 50% Lighter Version, v2

    I’m really pleased with how this has turned out after a few refinements. Do you think I have a future in web/interface design?

    I certainly do, and what's more seen as I own a number of domains, I might be interted in you doing some stuff for me. I'll pm you with something I'm working on, let me know what your feelings are. What are doing in college? Do you know HTLM, Java, cocoa etc.? PM me. Great work by the way.

    If I was to be hypercritical, which we just know Apple/Steve would be, about their own homepage. I would say keep this color, but make the linear effect go from top to bottom, i.e. with not even a shadow of a line remainig. (I know as is apple dot com has a line, but I think if they went this route/design idea, they would end it).

    See here, to see what I mean;

    That, and I'd give all these tabs the bold font, not just the "Hardware" one (it's the blue that gives away the selection). And while you're at in, i'd move all this font down a pixel or two, it's not cernered on that bezel, it's a touch too high. (What can I say, I like things done right);

    IMO, if you make these minor but noticeable adjustments, our collective version of Apple.com would be smack-bang perfect!

    This is cute.

    Seriously, though, max_naylor: I design web interfaces for a living. I started finding my way around it when I was 16 (10 years ago, actually). If that's what you want to do for a living you're off to a good start.

    Here is a quick one (Im at works o if there are any spelling errors etc sorry Also I just used a iPhone I got off Google. I could not find any artwork that looked like I wanted it to and did not have any time to make one but I think you get the general idea. I used the iTunes layout as a guide mentioned above by several people.

    Edit to say that I believe the home page will keep the same look but most likely with the items I placed on it If it changes I believe it would be gradually by modifying elements and slowly introducing them. (seems more Apple to me)

    I can do some graphic for you at some point in time if you want. I do a lot of logo work, as well as banners, etc. My photography website is http://www.imcgallery.com. I designed that logo from scratch. I like it a lot, but I generally only tend to design logos than can be B/W if need be.

    FreeState: keep in mind that iTunes major upgrades (i.e. 6 -> 7) include an interface change. This is the most common characteristic of a major iTunes upgrade. I HIGHLY doubt there will be a new major version of iTunes at MWSF.

    icfireball I would agree on iTunes usually, however if there is phones, iTV and streaming movies (to iTV etc) there will have to be some new features on it. If they going to have VOD it would have to be available on iTV and iTunes on your computer IMO. Thats why I think there is a good possibility of an update to 8.
