I'm dying to get Littlebigplanet. This looks like a fantastic game. I just wish it would ship sooner.
Yep.
Theoretically there's supposed to be a demo in the next couple months. All of this waiting makes me want to go into the gaming industry, see if I can get closer to these things.
I'm also looking forward to see what Haze will be like. March 18th, I believe is the date.
The way you said it made it seem like you hadn't played it.
How long did you play the game for?
And where are you getting your reviews from? Don't say gamespot.
yeah, i played the game long enough to know it was mediocre.
i look up average review scores on metacritic.
i dont strictly follow game reviews either, so dont say that. i usually use it at a reference tool. there are games that critics score poorly in which i love like ShadowRun, but if i play a game and dont like it, i tend to see if i'm in agreement with the critics.
do you own just a ps3? i think its time some of you gave some of these games a try
sony putting bluray in their ps3 had nothing more to do than trying to shove the format into peoples homes. thats all there is to it. i cant for the life of me understand how Sony's asinine PR spin works on so many people.
It worked for the PS2, so why wouldn't Sony do the same with the PS3? Back then, our son wanted a game console, and we wanted a DVD player. It was a no brainer back then.

Bioshock
Gears of War
Mass Effect
Dead Rising
you guys are really missing out.
I'm not missing out. I own those (except for dead rising)
Yeah, they're great games. I might be the minority, but I enjoyed Uncharted more than those.

yeah, i understand and agree with the benefits of that strategy. what i cant fathom are the people that still believe bluray was needed for the actual games.
Studios tell us that they are drawn to the superiority of Blu-ray yet the spec still isn't finished even to the point of matching HD DVD.
Which parts of the specs aren't finished?

Um, the part where the format will be updated twice — once for picture-in-picture and again for internet-enabled features — leaving all dedicated blu-ray player purchasers up 1st-gen creek without an ethernet port. Last year's dedicated players can't use picture in picture, and half of this year's players won't be able to use internet capabilities. You can't even buy a dedicated Blu-Ray player right now that won't be obsolete by the middle of the year.

I don't know why you insist it will make no difference in games just because in 2008 it doesn't when the lifetime of the console is projected out to 2011 (assuming just 5 years) or 2017 as Sony thinks.
This is like saying in 2002 that the space on DVD vs CD makes no gameplay difference and Sony could have saved a buck or two just using a 1.2GB "GD-ROM" drive like on the Dreamcast or the 1.5GB drive on the GameCube.
Yeah, okay. How many 2007 PS2 sales would there have been without DVD game support and only CD-ROM? I'm going to guess it would have been a lot more GameCube like in 2007 (80K total) and not a couple, three million.
Toshiba responds. It's a pity they didn't do this before the Holiday season, they might have had a better chance.
However, I do need an upscaling player. I wonder if this will cause upscalers to drop even further by comparison?
I agree, this price drop should've happened throughout the holidays, but it's better late than never.
It's interesting how the cheapest HD-DVD player at $149 retail is a better valued upconverting player than most upconverting SD-DVD players out there in the same price range. For the well-informed consumers, this will be a bargain unit even only as a SD-DVD player. I think you still get 7 free HD-DVD's with the purchase at only $149 retail, or amazon has it for $130's shipped.
I guess the new strategy for Toshiba is to rapidly expand their installed base. We'll see how effective this will be with the mass consumer focussed price range HD-DVD players.
Okay... now back to the game console talk.... What are the must have games on the Wii?.. I already got wii play and cross-bow training that came with the zapper.
Some co-workers recommended Mario Galaxy and Zelda, but I'm trying get something for the family or games for 5 - 10 year olds. Anyone got Wii Fit, yet?

Obviously anything nintendo like Mario Cart, Zelda, Metroid. I don't really enjoy anything nintendo personally, but I do have a hundred friends that can yammer on about these games forever.
I'm not worried about 360 Exclusive content. PS3 has the exclusive content I've been waiting for.
YUP couldn't agree more.
also has some exclusive MOVIE content at the moment, around 70% of the movie studios are "exclusive" at least, i think I heard something along those lines

oh, the irony!
only 2 of those games listed have been released. has GT 5hd even come out yet?
how long will sony faithfuls keep up the "its coming" motto. not to mention the rumor that MGS4 is coming to the 360 still hasn't gone away. haven't you learned from the Lair catastrophe that pinning your hopes mainly on future unproven titles is a bad thing to do?
haze -unproven
kill zone 2-unproven, (killzone 1 stunk)
Heavenly Sword- received decent reviews
Uncharted-another decent game like Heavenly Sword but soo damn short.
Infamous-unproven
look,i know you made a purchase and want to defend that purchase to the end of time. however, as it is now (let me remind you this was the basis of the argument) the ps3 as a gaming machine is not very good.
Vinea- you know why i insist it? because current developers are having trouble creating the same quality games on the ps3 as they do for the 360. the ps3 is very expensive to develop for. it is a common analysis within the industry that game development is becoming so expensive that studios are less adapt at taking such risks as creating new IPs for 1 specific platform.

Hmm..
What are you going to do about:
MGS4
Kill Zone 2
Gran Tourismo 5 HD
Haze
Infamous
Heavenly Sword
Uncharted - Drakes Fortune.
I'm not worried about 360 Exclusive content. PS3 has the exclusive content I've been waiting for.

Exactly. We each have our tastes, and the PS3 exclusives completely outweigh the 360s.
For me.
You can't even buy a dedicated Blu-Ray player right now that won't be obsolete by the middle of the year.

Is Uncharted worth getting? I read it was a bit tomb raider-ish, and I never could get into tomb raider.
whats its replay value once the story is completed?
and is there an online element?
buy or rent?
sorry for all the questions

for example developers for MGS4 stated to break even they needed to sell at least 1 million games on release. http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3164636
the bluray player will not be a factor in gaming for a long time, like you said the life cycle for htese consoles are longer than just 2008
yet i still dont think bluray will be needed in gaming this generation.
