BTW: Regarding more languages support, there are some good signs.
While installing there were many more keyboard layouts that I have been asking for for a long time: cyrillic, hebrew, and arabic.
I hope this means that by the time Jaguar comes out in September we will also see Hebrew, Arabic and Eastern European/Russian language support.

It'll be nice to be able to work with Hebrew without having to launch classic or do convoluted workarounds.
Am I the only one that thinks that "Finder Preferences" and "View Options" should be in the "System Preferences" application? I mean why have it separate from the others? It would be more efficient to combine them.
Apple has had the basically the same speech recognition software/technology for the past several years. Let's improve on this.
Sorry for the away time -- been doing "real" work in 10.1.
Anyway, here are a few things about 10.2 that I forgot to mention:
The caret/insertion point/whatever DOES show properly in the Finder now. You may now rest easier at night. ZO: Are you sure about what you posted? Take a look at this new movie if you don't believe me:
cmd-` now cycles windows in the Finder! Woo-hoo! (I don't know if it's different with international keyboards that have a different layout -- I understand this has been a hot topic WRT that issue.) The "go to folder" has been remapped to command-shift-g.
The Finder toolbar is *starting* to behave move like a normal toolbar. You can now control-click it to show the usual context menu.
I'm not sure if someone else mentioned this, but services are now working in the Finder. You can successfully select a file and, for example, use "Mail Document."
Apple System Profiler has undergone a MAJOR facelift! I'll post screenshots if anyone is interested.
Help Viewer has also undergone a MAJOR upgrade. it has a "real" toolbar now.
Disk Utility now has a "Repair Disk Permissions" which would seem to help novices who fool around with the Terminal or something and screw up their system's permissions.
Carbon dialog navigation is still sorely broken.
[quote]Hey Starfleet... do Apps like Mozilla get Quartz Antialiased text?

No, Mozilla does not magically convert its WASTE to ATSUI. Same goes for Microsoft Office. ZO: Entourage has always been "mostly" switched over to ATSUI. Are you sure you haven't just changed your font prefs somewhere?
Oh, and did I mention that Quartz Extreme is buggy as hell?

The dissappearing caret has happened with me on my iBook also in 10.1 and continues to do so in Jag.

Didnt touch anything. Just strated up Entourage and the window where there email messages are dispalyed is all antialiased. I'll take a screen shot later.

Buggy is an understatement. I played Quake 3 and it blocked the whole OS. Then again that happned to me before in 10.1
[quote]The dissappearing caret has happened with me on my iBook also in 10.1 and continues to do so in Jag.

Strange. The disappearing cursor has annoyed me since the Public Beta and every single build since up until this 10.2 build. I wonder if the QE has anything to do with the fact that mine is fixed and yours isn't. Hmmm. [quote]Didnt touch anything. Just strated up Entourage and the window where there email messages are dispalyed is all antialiased. Perhaps this doesn't belong here as it might be a matter of taste... however, I've always found Windows's (I use NT at work) ALT-Tabbing far superior to OSX's Apple-Tabbing.
I usually use it to switch back and forth betweeen two apps I'm working on (BBEdit/Transmit , BBEdit/IE , etc.). In NT, the tab order is last used window, so you can keep going back and forth between two windows. In OSX, it's the order they're running in the dock...so if I have ten things running, I have to alt-tab 9 times to switch between two windows (or alt-tab-shift...but that's just abominable).
Has this changed at all in Jaguar? (and does anyone else get pissed at OSX's implementation?)
Starfleet - not to be a knowledge leech but would you mind posting screenies of the new Apple System Profiler? And any experiences/screenshots involving Rendevous? Thanks for all the info, bud.

In OS X, many apps use Command-` (the key above tab) to switch between windows within itself.
Do you think that Jaguar will include USB Printer Share? I really like this feature, and wish OS X already had it? Any thoughts as to when we will see it?
Do windows remember their settings? I hate the way the finder always defaults to the same small size.

No, they don't remember their settings unless you do what has worked in all versions of OSX. Close all the finder windows, open a new one, resize, choose view, position where you want it, then CLOSE IT RIGHT AWAY. Open a new window et viola! a properly sized and positioned window. Annoying, yes, but workaroundable.

Insertion point or Caret.

- Four Things:
- Am I the only one that thinks that "Finder Preferences" and "View Options" should be in the "System Preferences" application? I mean why have it separate from the others?
It would be more efficient to combine them.
- Apple has had the basically the same speech recognition software/technology for the past several years. Let's improve on this.
- Think Secret's Jaguar Screenshots (May 13th) Quick! Before Apple gets to them first.

- Jaguar makes OS X a much more mature OS for critics, users, and converts alike. Enjoy.

So the "MIDI Devices" tab is just blank?

So the "MIDI Devices" tab is just blank?

Does this answer your question?
Of course, I suppose it doesn't help that I have no MIDI card.

Click for teh biggar!
Note where Entourage uses WASTE and then compare to the snapshot of the same text copied into TextEdit below.
Do SpringLoaded Folders have 'click and a half' functionality??
BuonRotto, I think your idea is a good one. I for one promise to stop ragging on X!

Btw, ScreenSavers has been renamed "Screen Effects"
This could imply more than just screen savers, perhaps the ability to use a screensaver as wallpaper, like the SGI "cpu killer" background.
