I'm really curious to see the responses of Windows users. It seems Mac users are almost universally blown away by the device after they try it out. I wonder if, and how many windows users, react the same way after using the it.
BTM,
Here's a review by Wintel nutcase Guru Barry Gerber, a self-proclaimed Mac & Ipod basher. Even he got infected.
There is no vaccine available at the present time. The Centers for Desease Control & prevention(CDC) is beginning work on said vaccine as soon as they get a supply of iPhones in house. Word is that it will be classified and handled at Biohazard Level 4.
Part of that is the ongoing "SDW lives in suburban happy land" that giant and company have been tossing around. The idea is that I can't appreciate urban perspectives because I live in hicksville, or so they think.
But yes...we should have 3G soon I would think.
Yeah you live near the most populous metro region in PA.
Why it's just outside the coverage map I have no clue.
2. EDGE speed looks to suck as much or more than we thought.
3. Storage totally inadequate. 4GB? 8GB? That's a joke, Apple. I can put a few movies and some of my music. Not good enough.
4. The rush of users is going to overwhelm the system for activation and temporarily, usage. Just my opinion.
5. I have doubts about the first rev of a product from Apple. I've never bought one. Period.
6. No flash support.
7. No wireless sync
That's the list of deal breakers for me. I realize it's not comprehensive, like the "iPhone Doesn't Have It" thread. Those are the ones that I need to see corrected (the budget, though listed first...well we know that would be placed aside!).
ok! get a treo then...
1. It wasn't in you summer budget, but you bought it anyways.
2. Really fast EDGE
3. Plenty of storage to view your movies
4. No rush.
5. Since it's like the 5th version and runs Windows it will never give you problems
6. Plenty of Flash
7.Wireless "n"
And the most important thing is that you look like my father when you're talking on the phone.
There's a number of things about it that I want to see improved before I buy. A lot of them can likely be resolved with a software update, but until I know that update takes place I'm gunshy to jump in.
But storage is a big sticking point for me. I need for the thing to have at least 32GB before I'm willing to buy.
For that kind of money I really also want the thing to have built-in GPS if at all possible.
Or at least unlock the possibility of using an external gps antenna via bluetooth, and have google maps working with it (or with some other software)

It's pretty but pretty dull the iphone. The Helio Ocean is also sexy and dull. So what? the iPhone has the best browser but suffers from the old habit, using our fingers to control a device mainly devised for the voice.
Someone will make a phone, that is truly smart, taking commands on a whisper, maps, gps, text, browsing all of this should be controlled by the primary organ for the phone, a human voice.
The iPhone is remarkable for being behind the curve.
The interface for my must have phone is partly here already, with voice activation, all it needs is a little more work. I don't see Apple doing this. Sony could but will not. The voice is the key to an elegant uncluttered smart phone.
The Macbook Pro is sexy, a must have. IPods the same. I just don't get the same urge to buy with the iPhone regardless of features coming or here. Just my opinion.
I love how people with a single post and no iPhone come in to give an opinion on a product that they themselves don't even have. Is it possible to have less weight and credibility behind your statement?

Well how stupid can you be... the thread is about "not buying an iPhone", didn't post anywhere else.
I'm not buying one. That's why I posted here and not in another thread. Get it? Understand? A little fanciful writing about a voice based interface, hardly deserves the club boy insults.
The practical limit (as opposed to the theoretical numbers) for EDGE is roughly what it is now on AT&T, or perhaps a few percent faster.
That said there is such a thing as EDGE evolution, but it's kinda pointless once 3G networks are up and running at least somewhat. Economically not worth it.
There's also Class A EDGE devices which allow voice and data at the same time. The iPhone will send calls straight to voicemail if you're actively browsing (a loaded webpage on the other hand will let you take the call since no data is being sent) and Class A EDGE would fix that.
As for talk radio? It depends on how it's encoded but since it can stream low quality youtube videos on EDGE I imagine talk radio should be ok.

Cannot imagine the reasons why Apple would NOT have delivered Class A EDGE. Accepting Apple's reasons for going with EEdge vs. 3G (the lack of widespread 3G here in the US) why the hell would they not have gone with Class A Edge? Is it battery consumption?
Bottom line is that this is an excellent device, and all the good features outweigh the minor flaws. If it is in your budget, don't hesitate to get an iPhone. By the way, the Edge Network is slow, but not unbearable- and it will be getting better as they sink more money into it.

The Edge network is experiencing an opposite phenomenon from the iPhone itself. Expectations are so high for the iPhone, that every trivial little flaw gets blown out of proportion. On the other hand, expectations for Edge are so low, that it's always better in actual use than you think it will be.

1) It is not in mine either BUT it would be really nice to have it in
2) Totally agree BUT who's moving to Europe? Any idea how expensive is the rent over there? Check euros vs dollars etc

Yeah, but most of those sales are at subsidized carrier prices in European markets, no? Not at the MSRP of the N-series devices, right?
Thanks, Tuan
Some European markets are subsidized (the UK, for instance), and some are not.

You're on crack. I didn't buy one...just to be clear.

also can you stream talk radio on the iphone now (edge not wifi)

2) chatt app???? sms
6) MMS - email
Sorry but thats too funny what you just said. Chat apps are not the same as SMS. Instant messaging is no where near the same as SMS.
And as for MMS, just what percentage of the mobile industry all have email clients through their phones comapared to MMS?

Overall, I like my iPhone.

2) Totally agree BUT who's moving to Europe? Any idea how expensive is the rent over there? Check euros vs dollars etc
3) Agree again - but it will be there soon enough
4) nah
5) It is scarry how good it looks for v0
6) ?
