If Stev is busting his nut right now(which he probably is, even though its 1 AM
then I fear that the iMac is the star of the show,if you think about it, the iMac saved apples ass before, steve loved it we loved it, everyone loved it, so in HIS mind what's the thing that everyone wants? the next iMac, unfortunatly thats what the average consumer MIGHT want(I fear it may be a bit to stylish, though the design is growing on me and I might want one)not the applenuts out there, they are going to want awesome PC destroying Powermacs and stuff like that...like me, I want a g5 really badly but I may end up settling for the new iMac(cause its g4)
now lets hope that steve ISN"T popping his brains and kid's toys about this "leak" lets hope that he knew that we knew that the LCD iMac was bound to come MWSF, lets hope that we don't know that he's really going to be releasing a shite-load of awesome products, and if not at least announcing that a g5 is coming soon, or somethinglike that.....if the iMac doubled as an A/V reciever then it would be the greatest thing ever, esp. if you could do 5.1 surround and add a geforce 3(or radeon 8500) with those two elements I would definatly get one.
I really want a nice graphics card, and 5.1 surround with midi in(if possible)
If you think about it, adding a reciever in the iMac only further makes it "THE digital hub of the future" If you could easily plug vcrs and camcorders and mp3 players and 5.1 speaker setup with auxillary inputs for whatever you want, then it would be totally awesome, oh my god, that would rule, urg now I just got myself wanting something apple can never provide(or at least not by MWSF '02)
[quote]Please copy paste the following stating that your relaying for hopeful future poster "tenraek"--> Well this is the first time I have ever seen a forum topic grow by 5 pages in less than 6 hours! If this event is going to be as big and historically signifigant as Apple is hyping it to be, I'm ready. I'm staying up tonight to see what the Apple Main Page says @Â*2 PM EST, I have my new Ibook hooked up to my VCR to record the web cast, If it weren't for the fact that I have an extremely importantÂ* meeting tommarow at 2, I would go down the the Rockingham Park Apple store and watch it there. Fortunetly I have Cable Internet where I'm the only one on the loop so I should get a good recording (Last year when I watched it over a 56k connection the video was perfect so I'm expecting the same thing this year, Providing we all down crash the server :-). Come tommarow I hope for the following: G5's at amazing speeds. LCD iMacs, A PDA device that doesn't make us want to kill Steve, and me to finally get my account password for the AI forums... I've been waiting almost a week!Â*Â* -- Tenraek (aka mac-at-kearsarge on MacNN)

just wanted to add to this historically long thread, too.
I hope that this is not what all the hype is about - and I think that iMac is ugly. I was going to get the new iMac, but I don't know if I can face having that thing on my desk. Hopefully it will grow on me (if its the real thing) when we get to see it better later.
Have you ever had to move a lamp? it's so damn easy, you just unplug it, pick it up, and set it down almost anywhere else. Even though you may not move your computer often, many people have small spaces and this computer would be a joy to own just for its compactness.
I'm sorry I got online this morning and spoiled the surprise of the keynote. Still, I copied the article and will read it tonight after watching the TiVO copy of the keynote.
Can't say what my feelings are about the new iMac yet....I'm fairly sure that I like it, but will reserve judgement until I read the specs. My folks' rev.A iMac just had a repair job a few months back so they won't get a new one for another year or so. I can guarantan-damn-tee you that they don't care about style.
I hope that the leak doesn't put a bad-attitude Steve onstage today, he's much more entertaining to watch when he's stoked. Like someone else said, he should know that we'd be all over this until something squeaked out of somewhere....as it almost always does. This just serves to prove that conspiracies are IMPOSSIBLE to contain....and conpiracy theorists are all full of bunk.
This iMac is a home run. Also, it is self evident that the powermacs will be bumped. Even without G5s, we can now count on performance to differentiate that lines. DDR-RAM, fast front side bus (266? 400?) and dualies will all be there. The new G4s will be kick ass machines if they G5 is a no show.
To make this one legit: I think the iSunflower lives up to a lot of the hype Apple has put out -- but not all of it. Something bigger and badder to come yet?
Sorry guys but I can't say that I like the design. I'm not too sure people will turn their heads about that one and go WOAH! Hate to be a naysayer, but I was expecting something really sharp....not dining room furniture.

It now redirects you to time.com, the us version. Seems like somone got slapped.

everybody quick post! perhaps apple will match our posts with mhz...
now that we know the imacs are g4s, perhaps we will see g5s after all, or really fast g4 powermacs.
To make it legit, today's hype isn't. I'll be at a local broadcast of it.

ok,I'm done.
wow this thread is huge!
I wonder how soon after the keynote people will start bitching about how "It didn't live ujp to the hype"?

I can start now: It didn't live up to the hype!!!
Hopefully registration will be fixed soon.

Let the record show that this thread started with a VERY short post.
