What phone has a screen larger than 5”?! How is that usable as a phone?
WOW. It’s almost as though… huh. It’s almost as though there’s an entire category of people out there who don’t have iPhones for whom that would be EXACTLY WHAT THEY WANT.
You can "prove" anything if you wave your hands around and talk in vague generalities like "some" or "many", backed by personal anecdotes using the tiny sample size of "everyone I know."
As usual substitute a 5 in place of the asterisk. AI still blocks a direct link to their stories.
A positive comment about Apple? I expect you to say, "HealthBook is a niche area that won't drive revenue and will be an extra expense. Apple is doomed." I guess you're ill.
That's an argument to extreme. People who want larger phones don't wanted over large phones.
Because Android has no tablet ecosystem, Android phone users either use an iPad or make do with a large phone. I therefore think that a larger iPhone will primarily benefit the poor, the fat-fingered and the old. Even if Apple bring out a larger iPhone, I think that they will always have one that will fit into a pretty snug trouser pocket.
Ignore tallest skill, he's just a little butthurt over a larger screen.
He said that if apple released a bigger phone he would quit buying iPhones/never upgrade etc.
I can't wait. He will eat those words and he will get the bigger screen iPhone and Then, and only Then will it be the best thing ever created....
Of course we all know, tallest skil is perfect and always right, everyone else in the world is an idiot.
I would go back and look for his exact words about never upgrading to the larger iphone but I just looked and he has 31,000+ posts correcting everyone and inserting his superior knowledge. His work is never done since we are all idiots in his eyes.
Oh really then why is it on every online survey I have seen both recent and ones going back to 2011, even on Apple focused websites, the larger display choices always trounce the demand for sticking with 4". I challenge you to find a recent and reputable poll where 4" wins over a larger variant. I realize anecdotal evidence is hardly proof of anything but at the same time it is very hard to dismiss and among my family, friends, co-workers, and just people you meet in public without fail people that own an iPhone always say they want a larger display and people with larger Android phones say their #1 reason they didn't buy an iPhone is screen size. This is about the only website in fact where I have even read comments preferring a 4" over a larger variant. I don't doubt there are some that prefer 4" or even 3.5" displays but if you think larger displays are a fad and in a few years we will all be pining for 3.5" display again you will be disappointed. Apple seems to understand where the market is heading and what people prefer even if you don't.
Cargo pants? Are you actually being serious? I can easily fit a Galaxy S5 in my standard sized pockets now. Why do you assume an iPhone 6 would be larger than a Galaxy S5. It will most certainly decrease the ridiculously large bezel size. Even with that it will necessarily have to be a larger iPhone if they go to 4.7" but I doubt it will be much larger dimensions once the forehead and possibly chin get reduced. One handed use simply isn't the "end all be all" it once was to Apple as even 5s owners began to use it more and more often in landscape mode.
Because if you're happy with the phone size, you're not going to answer the survey in the first place.
Almost 200,000,000 sold Galaxy phones the last 2 years says otherwise. The only advantage of Samsung Galaxy phones over the iPhone is size. Literally every single person I've spoke to who owns a Galaxy says it the size of the screen that made them buy it instead of an iPhone.
You're saying that these people in general mobile forums are only staying with android phones because of the large screen, and that they would move to iPhone if a large screen was available. Thus they have some reason they dislike android. That means either other hardware features, or the software. If these people dislike the software of android, that doesn't make them OS-agnostic, but rather the reverse: iOS-envious. And I think it's those people precisely whom Apple may win as "switchers" if Apple were to make a larger screen iPhone. But I'm not so sure they will do so.
Secondly, I think calling it an OS-war is a bit hyperbolic. Perhaps in a few limited circles, there is a "war" but I think that's a very small circle indeed. I think most people consider there to be alternatives and choices. The presence of choice does not a "war" make.
If there's one group of people who don't represent the general public, it's those who frequent general mobile forums. I could say the same about AI.
I see people everyday I work switch from an iPhone to a Android device because of the the screen size. Does everyone want a larger screen? No. There are a ton of people who do though. I also see people switch from an Android device to an iPhone as well. Those people usually had one of the cheap Crappie Android phones though and get the free or cheapest iPhone. So that would make sense. There is a huge demand for a larger size as I've had people come back with the larger Android phone and say they'll never go back to a smaller size. Note that they didn't say they wouldn't get an iPhone again. Just that they'll never get a phone of a smaller size.
Your anecdotal observation isn't borne out by the latest survey, which shows that people are more loyal to Apple than Samsung or indeed any Android device.
I've had 4 previous iPhones and I think a bigger screen would be great. I use mine for browsing more than anything. One handed operation, schmone-schmanded-schmoperation! Make it bigger!!!
See, this is what I want. I currently use a larger screen Android. For my needs it's perfect. I will never ever use any of the current size iPhones as they are much too small for me. If Apple does decide to make a bigger screen I'll be one the first to buy one. I'm dying to get my hands on a iOS product of a larger size than currently available. Don't bring up the Mini as that's for a completely different use case for me. I want a all in one. Not two separate devices to lug around.
If you don't want two devices, that's fine, but a phone will always be far inferior to an iPad for browsing and typing, two things which are obviously appreciated by the large number of iPad users.
I highly doubt a larger screen draws many Android users if any.
Put it this way, it'll draw back previous iPhone users that went to Android because they wanted a bigger screen. I don't think that number is anywhere near 20 million as some have suggested.
The size Nazis are out again. "No to a big phone!" " If people wanted a bigger phone why would they buy the current iPhone?!" Well I haven't bought a Android b/c I hate the software, so I've been buying iPhones for the software, but NOT the form factor. Don't get me wrong, it's OK, but I'd rather have a 5.5" phone and dump my iPad mini b/c the truth is, it just sits at home most of the time while the iPhone is with me everywhere I go. Now my wife would prefer something smaller so a 4.5" would make sense for her, and that's where these rumors of two phones sound good to me, but all this moaning and groaning from the "faithful" about how they wish they had a 3.5" phone against instead of a bigger one... well don't worry, they'll release an iWatch and you can have your precious small screen but for goodness sake stop trying to dictate what's good for the rest of us!
Anyone who disagrees with you is a 'size Nazi.' Why did you bother learning to write?
Well millions of people use them very well as a tablet, and companies such as Apple keep making more. So, your opinion is a little different than others.
Funny how when I ask why people are switching to a larger screen size above 5", the most common answer is screen size. Once again, others have a different opinion than you. Another thing they say is that they want to get rid of having to carry two devices so the larger screen size fits the bill for them. All ages.
You're not right in what you're saying as people are different than you. Not everyone has to have the same thought process as you. If we did it would be a boring world.
You don't seem to understand that everyone here, including TS and you, is giving their opinion. TS does it very forcefully, which I admire, but not everyone does admire it, particularly, but not always, those who disagree with him. People like you show their resentment and feel the need to point out that the other person's opinion doesn't represent everyone. We know; you don't need to point it out. In doing so, you are only wasting time and showing your weakness.

it's already big enought
Ooh, this is cool. Apple's HealthBook app outed and it looks pretty useful. It might drive a few iPhone6 sales too.

Your plank appears to be bigger than his speck.
I think Apple can do it. As an example the MotoX really isn't physically that much larger than the iPhone 5S, but the display is significantly bigger.
That phone is significantly bigger physically.

IMO they should have a 4 and a 5 inch phone.
And how many of those Android users own iPads?

Samsung was ridiculized on this pages for introducing a 7" tablet, now the 7" iPad is a best-selling product.
A 5" iPhone, possibly with a nearly edge-to-edge screen, in my opinion would be the new best-selling product.
There is no 7" iPad.
I've had 4 previous iPhones and I think a bigger screen would be great. I use mine for browsing more than anything. One handed operation, schmone-schmanded-schmoperation! Make it bigger!!!

Others would disagree that 7-8" tablets are too small to be usable. You should of said too small to be usable for you.
You're putting words into his mouth; he didn't say 7-8" tablets like you purport, he said 7" tablets. Big difference.

I'd literally bet my life on Apple doing a larger iPhone option this year. I'm better on either 4.6 or 4.7".
4.67".
Well millions of people use them very well as a tablet, and companies such as Apple keep making more. So, your opinion is a little different than others.
