Just for the record its a LaCie/LG 20.1 inch monitor with silver tape stuck on it stuffed into a Powerbook package. I happen to have all three items sitting in front of me right now. No I don't have anything to do with picture.
If Phil were to reveal anything as poor as that at Paris I would shoot myself.
everything points to it being a hoax... but there is just enough there -- either by skill or by accident -- that I for one can't help to at least consider it. Plus we are so close to the actual reveal, I am waiting for this to trigger some new clue.
If these photos are correct, and this thing is really flat and about the size of a 17" LCD screen (when compared to the size of the thumb in one of the photos and floor tiling in the lift) aren't Apple going to have a hard time explaining why the G5 Tower is so bloody big!!
(Don't flame me, I know the Tower models have 2 processors and extra expansion slots as well (though only the place for 1 optical drive and 2 hard drives), but its casing is huge - if not overkill compared to the thing in these photos?)
However, if these photos are true (and I don't think so!) then its a good indicator that G5 PowerBooks are possible and maybe just round the corner?
EDIT! Okay my bad I **MUST** have been looking at something else when I reported that the first photo was taken on the 23rd - either that or Adobe Photoshop had some sorta bug... cause now using that freeware program I found everything seems to be dated today again...
I am a professional photographer, photoshop is my daily bread, and one thing
is pretty shure:
those "leaked"iMac shots are not photoshopped. What we see here, even if it looks simple, would be pretty hard to fake.Every reflection from one material to the other-perspective,colorspace and even the dirt in the corners of the elevator are in the right colorspace- adds theoretically up to an ultracomplex workflow chainlock.
Maya and Cinema4D designers know the problem definition.
In addition to that,I was at Charles deGaulle in the newer coplex,2 weeks ago during a connection flight and I was joking with my assistant over the "sauna style"cheap looking floormaterial in the small elevators at the gates to the lower levels there.
They were looking quite similar as far as I can remember.
If we speculate about a size of ca. 1 inch per rubberdot on the floor, than the
box itself is ca. 13 "dots" long,Plus the space in between them, lets say half the dotsize adding up to a BOXSIZE of ca. 19" on the smaller side.
That box could easily keep a 17-20? display.Whether a tablet or a mirrordisplay which is detachable(and thus headless....get it?)
I posted a small quick mockup of this "LG all in one monitor"(by the way,as You all know LG/Philips is the manufacturer of the Cinema displays....)next to my remarks of the G5 iMac pictures to explain the material of the new desktop.
Since I am not firm in posting pictures here(and even worse my native language is not english ;-p )I uploaded them on my filesharing folder to prove my speculations.Maybe someone can post them here, which would be nice.
conclusion-if its a fake it is IN the content of the picture
In fact it should me in a new thread. This is a monumental occasion! This dude knows what he is talking about. It looks as if it is indeed the new G5 iMac!

Would Steve let anyone but himself announce something so important for Apples bank-account as the new iMac G5?
Since Steve is letting Phil do the Keynote is the iMac G5 comming?
Apple said September, is Steve's not being there a sign we'll see the iMac G5 at a press event sometime in January?
Can anyone here imagine Steve letting Phil announce the iMac G5?
I'd expect him to be rolled on stage in a wheel-chair before he'd let this happen.
But who knows when it comes to Apple...
Once Steve walked on stage in Japan wearing a suit and a tie! So I guess he can do anything...

He could hire me to do it! :-)

No. He'll let Phil roll out the new wireless space bar.

I thought they removed the new G5 from Steve's pancreas.

Phil cill announce the new iMac, but you will see Steve's arm extending from a new 30" monitor with his hand shoved up Phil's butt

He'll be in his hospital bed on iChat AV.
But who knows when it comes to Apple...

Apple never said Macworld Paris - they said September...

Apple never said Macworld Paris - they said September...
That's true but highly unlikely. It;s also Apple Expo, not Macworld.

...Released in September.
Or maybe it has to do with the fact that Jobs had cancer surgery earlier this month?
Either one.
