Again, if this were real the prick would not be doing this as part of his job description. He is opening up someone's package on his own time for kicks. He's doing this in an elevator for crying out loud! Also, if this was on it's way to an Apple Store or customer it must now be sold as a used or open box item.
By the way, where the hell is the rest of it? No stand? No keyboard? No mouse? No software? No manual? My, that is revolutionary! Did he just jump all this on the floor of the elevator? Why is it not widescreen? Why does it come in a "pro" box?
Hoax!
Ooops - sorry about that last one.
TWinbrook has it figured out. Where are all the periferals? Why would a consumer machine be packed in a Pro box?
The new Apple monitors are already out of the bag, and you're nuts if you think Apple is going to jump into the highly competitve world of TV Electronics.
Finally, the styrophoam doesn't match the shape of the monitor. I just figured that out. Take a close look.
As stated in an earlier post (which I just noticed) airport employee would have to open a large sealed crate. Inside would probably be individual boxes of the purported iMac. However, would that person put in on the floor of an elevator? No. It would be on a table or some platform in the receiving area. Airport employees aren't allowed to remove products from those areas. Also, a representative from Apple would be there to oversee the shipment and damn well would make sure a box wasn't taken out and opened and photographed. Apple would have been all over this site if it was "real". They've done that before but haven't done it now. Figgggettit.
But: Do you remember when the T.A.M. was shipped ? I recived it in 3 different boxes, one for the main unit+stand, one for the Bose unit and one for the kayboard and mouse.

I suppose he/she might if they were stealing it. :-)
Then again, if they were stealing it, why not wait until they got it home to unwrap the blooming thing?
And why the elevator? This person clearly has time to pose the fool thing. What if someone tries to board? You can't stop it without sounding an alarm. And you wouldn't be moving too many floors before the next stop. After all, this is an airport, not the Sears tower. Same call if it is a bathroom. You never know when your boss might need to whiz. Why risk it? There is clearly no financial reward. Just a bunch of bored nerds reading your lies.

Simply, it would be the same for the new iMac.

Remember one thing: the Twentieth Anniversary Mac was created while Steve Jobs was playing around with NeXT. He would never have allowed Apple to design that thing, and then sell it for 10 grand!
Under Steve's reign, Apple has had pretty much nothing but successful designs. The Cube wasn't even a fluke. It was superb. Just way ahead of it's time. Everything since Jobs' return has been "Think Different".
There is nothing "Different" about the grey monitor in these photos. It is way too "Think Same".

Do you mean that the TAM design was not so good as cube ?
A mini X-serve board strapped to the back of an Alu display.
I think this will be it.
How elegant will that be? More so than Sony's effort, I'm confident of that. Alu. Confident of that. Something serious for Apple's push into the 'Home'...?
May we all rot in PC hell if Steve Jobs gives us something that looks like that! I am confident that he won't!
You forget though... everyone was saying the exact same thing when they saw the G5 Powermac revealed.
They said it looked just like a PC.
But the thing is that all the PC designs are starting to look like Apples now... so what does apple do.. they make their stuff look like the PC stuff agian but they do it better.
People have been saying the exact thing you are saying now about the new pro monitors too.
It just has a more refined look for some reason.
If the PC companies do one thing apple will do the exact opposite.
Gates it doing tablets -- Jobs says 'why tablets'? Gates fails at tablets... watch... Jobs will reinvent the tablet.

When Apple created the iMac, they went away from the "beige box". This was the first computer that was new from the ground up after Steve retook the helm.
Look at the original Macintosh. It looked nothing like anything that existed anywhere else in the market. When Steve was gone, Apple's computers ALL looked just like the rest of the industry, they were simply a different color. They were all square, ordinary boxes.
Look at the G3 Blue and White. It was pretty much a G3 minitower that was designed prior to Steve's return. Steve had the case redesigned, but it was otherwise about the same, component wise.
The G4 and G5 look nothing like anything in the PC world.
The iMac G4 was so different it was unusual and so was the Cube.
Apple does NOT go the opposite direction of the PC world. The opposite of square is still square! Apple reinvents the PC and, since Job's return, has brought something to the community that has changed the way we compute and the way we feel about computing. Changing THAT is going in the opposite direction.

kscherer,
Sorry if this seems like I'm attacking you (I'm not) but.... First, have you EVER purchased a Mac?!?! The Manuals Keyboard Mouse and Power are in the TOP of the styrofoam - been like that for quite some time. Why would you even ask such a question?
Second as far as "He (Steve) would never have allowed Apple to design that thing, and then sell it for 10 grand!" - Ummm , should I bring up the Lisa? The NeXT Cube? Naahhh I guess not. \
Finally the styrofoam does fit... I too though it didn't but someone corrected me,.. That ridge isn't styrofoam it's just the bunched up white 'fabric like stuff' that Apple uses to protect computers, laptops and displays.
I still don't know what to make of this but the reasons you're using just don't hold water.

It's an image from best buy. I noticed the Back of the "iMac" looks much like my Sony monitor, just a different color.
EDIT: This is an LG, not my nice Sony monitor.

OMG that display has one of those 80's On/Off flip buttons with the 1/0 on it... How retro

It's not at all like a powerbook. Note the big lump sticking out of the back. Very PC-monitor-like.
Yes... but it is very minimalist styling. Shiny metal surface.
It can't be designed exactly like a powerbook because it would cost too much.
Think of it as a cross between the Viao V or W series and a powerbook.

I will ignore the PB image on the apple box as well
Great inside info
I think Apple will be the first to ever attempt to market a handheld at 65" and a whooping 800x600 resolution
All in good fun though 8)
