My current guess at why apple.com isn't accessible is because they're probably the subject of a DoS attack. The dark side of the Internet and attracting too much attention.
That's a damned confused line-up. How many processors and graphics cards in the iMacs at the same time? Two completely different lines of both PowerMacs and iMacs?

its up now, and sporting a new message...
"Count the days. Count the minutes. Count on being blown away."
a Mac porn magazine would be freaky. The neatest things like the bath-newton2 (spymac büllshite), sexy girls with Soundsticks... if there's any demand, we could make a section only for women some guy with an iSub...
hey, i should stop. but i'm still a bit drunk from new year's eve and i'm hyperventilating from this "count on being blown away" stuff. so that's my excuse.
Clearly the hype is for a new Digital Device, not for the Mac updates that everyone already expects.
At the iPod introduction, Steve said something to the effect of, "We launched a new Digital Hub strategy a year ago, and the iPod is our first Digital Hub product..."
Forget about G5's, Apple and Motorola basically went to the press to put those rumors to rest. There will be faster, but not amazingly faster, G4s, an LCD iMac, and some digital device. Maybe a camera, maybe an all-in-one home device, maybe something else. Maybe the REAL Ginger, who knows.
Apple manipulating hype is like the Fed influencing stock market - the future G4 and iMac are already reflected in the current hype level, so only a surprise new device can really outdo the "discounting."

This messages has been there even hours before apple.com went down. There has to be something else.
perhaps they are re-thinking the "count on being blown away" line in light of the terrorists situation around the world...or they are releasing the new iMacs LCD G4s and G5s early!?!?!
just image apple releases new iMac and Power Mac G5 now....then at keynote speech SJ just stands up on stage silently for about 2 hours while the audience claps wildly and cheers and throws room keys and underwear...then, 1 hour and 55 minutes into the applause....SJ holds up his hands for quiet and say, "Oh, and one more thing......" as the curtain opens and shows...........(removed at the demand of Apple Legal)

Besides the Mac porn magazine, which is great fun (Ally "Mac" Beal and Christina AG5ilera nude!!!), there should also be some songs, like:
Michael Jackson - "Mac or White" or "Mac in the mirror"
Baha men - "Who let Steve Jobs out" (HURR-HURR-HURR)
Roxette - "Milk and Toast an Apple"
Alcazar - "Crying at the CompUSAtheque"
Tom Jones with the Cardigans - "Burning down Bill Gates"
Enrique Iglesias and Withney Houston - "Could I have that OS forever"
Afroman - "Because I got Mac" ("now I'm j***ing off, and I know why, because I got Mac"? Hey, that's the missing link to the Mac porn magazine )
Clearly the hype is for a new Digital Device, not for the Mac updates that everyone already expects.

Um, why do people keep talking about a "new digital device" with such confidence? If it's because of the slip by Apple Netherlands, I'll bet you a dollar that the release is referring to the new consumer Mac.
"innovative, revolutionary, and different"
"powerful, user-friendly, and eye-catching"
"enormous impact".
That is the new iMac, or whatever they're going to call it.
I'm absolutely certain the hype on the Apple website is referring to this product as well.
And as tradition requires, I'll stake my customary nude photograph on it.

Seems to me the hype wouldn't be just about the new iMac, and you would have to provide some photographic, um, entertainment for all us guys to peruse.

BTW, you ever hear from Decker?
I'm not sure about this new digital device either. LCD iMac is a done deal though.
I think it's actually worthy of a REAL confirmed.

They will introduce new mac.com mail servers that actually work!
I think all this hype is about one thing:
They will introduce new mac.com mail servers that actually work!
God I hope so. And iDisks too.
cowofwar- Your counter is nice, but its 3 hours off. The keynote starts at 12 PM EST, not 9 AM. It's 9 AM PST.

You don't say? Could it be...maybe I'm on PST and not EST?
Jeez, world doesn't revolve around the east coast.
