  • Apple cites bevy of scared users to back up its case against the EU DMA

The issue most people are not understanding, especially the corrupt EU, is that once sideloading is possible, malware will be much easier to install on many iPhones. Just because I will never allow sideloading on my iPhone doesn't mean that my iPhone won't be subjected to malware from people who now have malware on theirs sending their malware to my iPhone through email and messages. The biggest malware will be government-sponsored and required apps, which some countries already force users to install. I will no longer have a choice, it will be made for me by government agencies demanding to have access to my personal items. I'm saying this because I know what can happen and have actively worked on securing Apple hardware for the last few decades. What the EU is doing is opening Pandora's box and they don't care.

  • Tesla, BMW don't appear to be gearing up to join Apple's new CarPlay vision

Tesla has a great system, something CarPlay won’t be able to fully replace. Other car manufacturers don’t really have a fraction of the computing and operating capabilities Tesla has. CarPlay can help the other companies but I don’t see it actually running the entire car.

  • Pay up or get out: Apple's options for South Korea's App Store law

Exciting times. I've been arguing for this for years and that's why so many people hate me on this forum.
So you believe a developer has every right in the world to post their apps for free on the Apple App Store? Give me one legitimate reason why Apple should be required to host these apps for free. Apple doesn't charge for free apps but could start doing that if they wanted to. Apple could also start charging developers to even put their apps on the Apple App Store and if these stupid laws pass, I'm all for Apple doing that. There's no way anyone could force Apple to host things on their servers for free. It would be like me hosting your email server on my hardware, which I maintain, for free. Get a grip, I'd never do that and I doubt any company would do that. This shows how stupid these laws are.

Of course, if you want to have your own payment system, then be prepared for Apple to start charging you a hosting fee for every download and install of that app. That's only fair isn't it?

  • Apple appeals against EU mandate that it freely share its technology

Apple owns its products not the EU. The EU has no right to dictate to Apple how its products operate. As I’ve said before, the EU has every right to build their own platforms but it’s obvious they don’t have the ability or talent to design and manufacture anything people, including those in EU countries, want. It’s time to boycott everything made in the EU but I’m not so sure there’s actually anything they make I really want.

  • UK could secretly block security worldwide, says Apple

Apple might need to talk to stock holders to see if they can get backing to tell the UK and EU to take a hike. This could include not selling to the UK or EU. Yes, Apple would take a hit but these governments who want to abuse American products might need to discuss with their citizens the potential for Apple to not provide any products. Who will win? Their citizens or their government?

  • EU has very serious issues with Apple, says competition chief

I have very serious issues with the dictatorship called the EU. It would be nice if the EU actually provided a product that competed with Apple but, alas, they don't have the ability to do so. Citizens of the EU have spoken, they like Apple products, they buy Apple products and want to continue to use Apple products the way Apple sells them. The only people who are actually complaining about Apple are developers who want to leech on Apple products getting everything for free. If the EU can't come up with products its own citizens want to buy then there's an issue with the EU, not with Apple.

  • iPhone blamed for including journalist in highly classified bombing plans

The current administration is not the only one to have relied on Signal. The Biden administration also used it, because the government does not have its own system and Signal is considered one of the most secure messaging platforms.

It's my understanding that the White House cyber security group is handled by DoD. It sounds like you're saying the White House ("government") doesn't have its own system when it absolutely does. The White House is not allowed to use any unclassified network or device when discussing anything remotely classified. The idiots in the White House who said it was only sensitive, not classified, need to re-take their security courses because even sensitive communications are only allowed to be used on government controlled systems. Mike Waltz is an idiot and should have been immediately fired. DoD rules do NOT allow Signal to be used on government mobile devices, they (might) be allowed on personal devices but can't be allowed when conducting any business. I don't care what Biden used but I know our government is required to use restricted access computer devices and I'm sure the government's mobile device management system doesn't include easy access to the Apple App Store or any Google app store. Generally, government phones are locked to a point where the user is unable to add apps to their government phone. I worked for a large DOE contractor and personal phones were NEVER allowed for business use. We would carry two phones, one personal and one government and we never used a personal phone for government business. If we did, it was cause for immediate firing and possible arrest.

  • Apple Watch blood oxygen feature helps doctor save air passenger's life

    It's not Apple's, it's Masimo's.
Not necessarily. Check out https://appleinsider.com/articles/23/05/01/apple-watch-trial-endslatest-chapter-of-2-billion-apple-watch-patent-battle-ends-in-mistrial The vote in favor of Apple was 6-1 but for some stupid reason it needed to be unanimous. One juror out of seven doesn't sound like Apple used Masimo's patents. Yes, Masimo has patents on pulse oximeters but so do other patent holders. Masimo also references other patents within their patents. I've always wondered about these patent references. I doubt Masimo was the first and only company to create a medical pulse oximeter, which is not something Apple is including in their Apple Watch. Apple is providing a non-medical pulse oximeter without all the critical testing and accuracy. I bought a home use pulse oximeter for $30, Masimo's go for 10X that amount. There is a difference in what Apple and Masimo are selling. Did Apple actually use the Masimo patents in their entirety or simply use parts of the patents, which seems to be what other companies do.

Do airlines carry pulse oximeters on-board? Probably not. Do people carry their own pulse oximeters wherever they go? Probably not. Was the woman's life saved because she had a pulse oximeter on her watch, which provided enough information that the cabin crew knew to give her oxygen? Absolutely! Do we credit this to Masimo? Absolutely not!

  • Apple shareholders sue over Siri delays and massive losses

So shareholders want to sue for vaporware? Good luck on that. This happens all the time with products in every business. Companies try and make a good faith effort to bring a proposed product to market but these products don't always work out. I'd challenge the stockholders to justify everything they've said they were going to do but didn't. The stock market is gambling, plain and simple. Sometimes you win, most times you lose. Deal with it!

  • DOJ goes after US citizen for developing anti-ICE app

What gives our governments the right to install cameras all over the place to spy on every single person in the USA (plus other countries)? If they can do it why can't we? Gone are the days of any kind of privacy, especially right now.
