  • Tim Cook isn't going to get fired, and Steve Jobs isn't rolling over in his grave

If he meets shareholders future expectations he will stay, if he doesn’t he will go. It is as simple as that.
Dropping from #1 to #3 and on his way to #4 due to sales stalling, the Google deal, tariffs, and an infinite number of lost legal battles. Cook made Warren Buffett sell 2/3 of his holdings. Clearly shareholders are not pleased. In a decade of cloud computing and AI we experienced Apple having the best chip, being first with Neural Engine, and then... instead of doing a gaming console, cloud computing, or shipping AI... he killed the server business and spent 10 years on a car and headset with the same success as when Sculley did Newton.

The Google deal is around 10% of profits for Apple and tariffs are hitting hard. Apple will remain relevant but Cook can't bring Apple back to #1. He was an outstanding COO, made Apple scale, and probably saved Watch by transitioning it from fashion to health (or somebody did). It really is time for the next CEO.
BH has 300 million shares in AAPL. It is more than 20% of the total holdings. I don't think you can say that Buffett doesn't like Apple.

If shareholders are displeased, they're looking at about the last five minutes, which is ridiculous.

Cook's the right guy, in the right job, at the right time. Who's your pitch for his replacement?

  • New Vietnam trade deal means Apple will pay at least five times more in tariffs

Throughout this whole trade war debacle, it's pretty clear old Donnie boy knows nothing about economics, something he majored in college!

Maybe Wharton should look into revoking his degree, because clearly he didn't learn a damn thing!
This is an amazing deal from America. Please look again
How is Vietnam paying nothing for US goods and Americans paying more for goods from Vietnam a win? Americans are the losers here. We're paying more. How is that a deal?

Besides the headline rate numbers, The fact Vietnam was willing to open up their entire market with no trade barriers is a huge deal for US farmers . This is an amazing deal. You  are
Right, different countries have different situations, but if this is framework . HOLY 💩🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Farmers export $120 billion worth of goods from the US. Vietnam imports a total of $3 billion ish in agriculture, and only a percent of that from the US. They promised to increase imports from the US in February, but it won't be the full $3 billion. This is a blip considering the rest of the world is reducing their reliance on US goods thanks to the Trump tariff policy.

I see no victories in this trade policy or so-called "deal."
Let me try to explain, you have it backwards

The 0 percent is a tariff that would be paid by Vietnam/US companies selling into Vietnam , so with 0 tariff,

Say if us farmer wants to sell $100 of beef to Vietnam, it will be $100, but if there was a 20 percent tariff, that same beef will be $120 with tariff cost split between the two parties or paid by US farmers . So if domestic beef is $100, people in Vietnam will have to pay $120 for US beef. Why would they buy US beef?  That is assuming no trade barriers banning us beef like there was before this deal . Now U farmers have a more even playing field

as for other way , they need the US consumer market so
U companies can most likely make Vietnam companies who wants to sell into the USA pay most of the tariff in order to access US markets
Lol. Wes isn't the one who has it backwards.

And ThinkSecret did not win their lawsuit and got shut down for the leaks they posted on their website.  I miss the days when people were actually surprised during a keynote when a new product was released, because none of it was leaked beforehand.
They got paid by Apple as part of the agreement to close down.

I assume this only applies to those devices in the list sold in the US not those bought in the rest of the world. Given that the US is about 40% of Apple revenue (mostly iPhones and Mac’s), the impact of this on Apple will be meaningful but surely not very significant?
The impact on US consumers will be precisely what they voted for?
There has been discussion that Apple will dilute the impact to the US consumer by raising prices worldwide. So, I guess the answer to your question is "it remains to be seen."

it does not. Apple's gains were pre-market open. Trump's announcement was at 12:44 eastern time.

AAPL is down from pre-market gains.

Tariffs are a very positive long term strategy. Our country has been taken to the cleaners for years with gross trade deficits.
Tariffs will even the playing field. Like them or not.
Tariffs will shift taxation to US companies, then the consumer, while the exporting country laughs and pays nothing at all to export that stuff.

Tariffs have zero to do with "gross trade deficits."

  • Eero 7 Max mesh router review: The best kind of Wi-Fi overkill

This new generation of eeros explains why my new cable internet provider forced me to accept a bunch of crappy previous gen eeros, in order to get the discount rate. They're dumping the old product on consumers. Now I have to store this obsolete plastic rubbish in a closet for years, until I change providers someday. If I don't return it, they'll charge me hundreds of dollars in penalties.
What did they give you? For most, Wi-Fi 6 units will still do very well for years, especially if you have Macs that don't have 7.

  • All hands on deck: Tim Cook, Craig Federighi address Apple employees on AI, Siri

Normally, it is not a bad sign that we have used to have our All hands meetings all the time as it is just a part of our organizational events.
But this All Hands meeting was organized in a short time frame, which is not a good sign.

It was scheduled two weeks ago, apparently.

The iPhones we had (iPhone 13 Pro Max and iPhone 14 Pro Max) were working just fine and we would NOT have acquired two iPhone 16 Pro Max units if the feature set diid not have improved Siri and AI per the presentation.

    ...

Neat way to really shaft the customer base. But some prior customers may leave and never come back as their trust of Apple's word is gone. Deceptions have a way of coming around and biting a vendor in the back side at the most inconvenient or embarrassing time.
Sue Apple about it. See how it goes. Precedent is not on your side.
