Apple Maps still calls it the Gulf of Mexico, and politicians are upset
Appleish said:I hope his sheep realize that Executive Orders are weak and temporary edicts. The moment his second and final term is over, the Democrat elected to clean up his mess AGAIN will reverse all of this petty BS.
I'm afraid this country has been lost to fascism forever. The fascists here will say that I'm just throwing out that term, but it's definition is very simply "an authoritarian and nationalistic right-wing system of government and social organization" which is exactly what they voted for and got and — on a more complex note — shown off by the broligarchy that accompanied him yesterday.
Can you imagine if Biden had done that or if Obama had dared not get sworn in on the Bible? The so-called conservative media wouldn't have stop harping in. I know this because they slammed Obama for months over wearing a tan suit. It's kinda amazing what people will chose to accept when their focus is on stripping the rights and freedoms of minorities instead of actually being self aware, mature, and fair enough to want a level playing field in life. -

Elon Musk's latest anti-Apple tirade is about a ChatGPT feature that doesn't exist
robin huber said:Musk and Trump are both examples of men who buy businesses started by smart people, or buy smart people to run their businesses. Then promote the myth that they themselves are brilliant. Mediocre brains with a nose for business + affluent parents to prime the pump. -
Trump gives Apple a giant break with wide-ranging tariff exemptions
libertyandfree said:Like I have repeatedly stated on this site and others, . Apple would not be harmed by these tariffs. It’s amazing how people still do not understand how Trump operates and what his intentions are even after him being president for 4+ years. Many view him as incompetent or corrupt and greedy but he is just following his America First policies and truly is trying to put America in a better position. Those suffering from TDS will never see this.
One of the rare occasions that Trump has been honest has been when he said he could shoot someone on 5th Avenue and not lose a single vote. You are one of those people. You are probably one of those people that look at the turnout of his rallies and say, "clearly Trump has more votes," without the faintest comprehension that most people don't attend such things. That's probably why you still believe Trump won the election in 2020 that he clearly lost despite him trying to cheat... outside of him telling you that he actually won by more votes in human history.
Seriously, what crimes would it take for you to not to be on his side? You used to post about libertarianism ideals where you simply wanted smaller gov't that didn't interfere in our lives. It was always myopic because you failed to have a path for that outcome or see how things would cascade in negative ways as a result, but at least it had a focus on smaller gov't. Now it's simply your TDS where whatever that idiot says has to brilliant, even when he contradicts himself — sometimes mid-sentence — and when he's destroying the lives of the American people.
Enough with your jingoistic "America first" BS. You don't really believe that or you wouldn't be on board with countless people losing their livelihoods or people who are in the US legally being sent to a high security prison in a country they've never been to.
PS: Stop falling for this lie that the American people are being victimized by every other nation on earth (which is an oblate spheroid, BTW, not flat). That isn't to say that the American people aren't being wronged, but it's from within. But despite being the victim you still have a personal responsibility to not allow yourself to be victimized. Think of the people who fall for stupid phishing scams because they lacked the critical thinking and due diligence to not realize that bayareafastrak.org-pay.scam iisn't a valid website for San Franciso's FasTrak website. -
Trade war escalates: Trump hikes China tariffs to 125%, pauses others for 90 days

PS: You're using a term from a book that the 6x bankruptcy king didn't write. It's not good business acumen if you can only ever profit from lying and stealing. -
Trump may have added 25% iPhone tariff specifically to punish Tim Cook
iJeffrey said:SPOILER ALERT: Did anyone ever see Kingsman: The Secret Service? You know, the one where Valentine (Samuel L. Jackson) either kidnaps world leaders and stashes them in a mountain or plans to use global cellular signals to make people go berserk? It wouldn’t surprise me if Mar-A-Lago had a Neuralink lab in the basement. Guests come to dine with Donald, and Elon slips a nice little chip into their brains to ensure compliance. So, either Tim got one of the “Made in America” models, managed to have his removed, or… I don’t even want to consider the third option. Either way, I admire Tim for not jumping every time Trump Needs Props for his all his shows.
The biggest surprise to me in all of this is that they'll willing to ignore how much they're being hurt and yet still willing to defend the con even while they see themselves losing out. The second biggest surprise for me is that the 3 branches of gov't mean nothing if you can just ignore any and all laws and court decisions. I wonder if Madison would be shocked to know that it only took around 230 years for the weaknesses in the system to breakdown this completely or would be surprised that it took this long?
“The accumulation of all powers, legislative, executive and judicia in the same hands, whether of one, a few, or many, and whether hereditary, self–appointed, or elective, may justly be pronounced the very definition of tyranny” (James Madison, Federalist No. 51, 1788).
My guess is that he would said the latter because of the political parties we have, especially know with the MAGA fascists that are Republican in name only (RINO). I say this because Madison said, "a well-constructed Union [should be] its tendency to break and control the violence of faction," which isn't happening. Even after all the very clear evidence of wrongdoing the promise of hurting someone boogeyman was so powerful that MAGA has grown.
The Founding Fathers were smarter than we are today at the highest levels. For example, Alexander Hamilton stated that political parties are "the most fatal disease” of popular gov't.
George Washington in his Farewell Address stated, "However [political parties] may now and then answer popular ends, they are likely in the course of time and things, to become potent engines, by which cunning, ambitious, and unprincipled men will be enabled to subvert the power of the people and to usurp for themselves the reins of government, destroying afterwards the very engines which have lifted them to unjust dominion."
Willard Sterne Randall wrote that “[Washington] had stayed on for a second term only to keep these two parties from warring with each other [because Washington] was afraid of what he called ‘disunion.’" Maybe that's telling if the Union was already starting to fall to the weakness of corrupt men out of the gate.

What you call "technology" isn't technology at all. It's definitely a result of current technology that can allow anyone with an internet connected smartphone to get attention actively trying to ruin people's days and even lives, but it's just harassment. The real question is why you think it's so entertaining to see people make fun of and hurt others online for attention. To quote Joey Swoll, "You need to better! Mind your own business."
Personally, I look forward to more FAFO moments in the world. As the saying goes, play stupid games, win stupid prizes.
PS: On the notion of technology, I would argue that the younger generations have considerably less technological knowledge than the older generations. What you call technology is really just using an app... and one you didn't write. The older generations actually had to know how to fix things. I'm not a boomer and I'm not Gen Z, but I did have the privilege of learning from great people who came before me on how to understand how machine works. What nearly all people seem to fail to understand — and not just 20yo pranksters with severe alopecia — is that technology is considerably more widespread and diverse than the latest shiny object being offered up by Apple or Google. Granted, it's not the younger generations's fault that the microchip has become omnipresent in products that never had that previously and so intricate that it's not an easy or even a reasonable task to replace such small components, but it doesn't mean that you understand technology better... you just understand how to use different technology and that all comes down exposure and nothing else.
So what do I mean by that? Well, technology is defined as "the application of scientific knowledge for practical purposes." That means that learning when, where, how to plant a crop is a technology being applied — and that's even before we get to tools that were made to make it easier. Or, a branch of that being animal husbandry, were we're bred animals to product specific traits such and meat, milk, strength. These are technologies that most people will never fully grasp — myself included — but you should understand that technology is more than a consumer electronic you use to get negative attention. -
Apple supplier Pegatron says tariffs will mean third world-style shortages for US
cpenzone said:They're not Trump's Tariffs... they're Republican Tariffs.
These aren’t even strictly MAGA tariffs as many of his MAGA supporters aren't smart enough to see how this will negatively affect them.
