I think it's because on your old G3 you used AGP to run your graphics card, and the MacBook uses PCI-Express, something entirely different than AGP.

On my iBook, hidden. On my 20" iMac, large, in charge, and visible. Bottom, of course. Hint: Option-Command-D makes your dock hidden/showing.

I find it more useful for laptop owners who don't want to hear their music on their dinky laptop speakers but are in the same room as their stereo, like me.

Is it possible to hold Option on startup and get a screen where you can choose your startup disk? It is possible to start up from an external drive, once I actually used my iPod for the task.
