The point of the article is that the CEO (acting) flatly denied they did. APPLE IS LYING AGAIN THE SAME WAY THEY DID WITH JOBS ILLNESS. SHAREHOLDERS ARE GOING TO BE PISSED OFF. This is likely the reason they were downgraded again.
