  • Apple drops lawsuit against virtualization firm Corellium

    Fair point.  Corellium hasn't announced that they are ceasing operations so they didn't "lose" per se.  One of three things happened:

    - Apple didn't have a case and wanted to give up quietly;
    - The judge only found that Corellium violated portions not significant enough to hinder normal business;
    - Apple is going to buy the company and offer some new bundle with Xcode CI in the cloud, and a cloud-based device simulator.  They'll sell it as "Developer+" for $9.99 a month on top of your regular Developer subscription.

    I know, I know.  Don't give them any ideas.  But any dunce can see that the entire business world is hot on subscription services for maximum cash extraction.
    Apple definitely has/had a case.

    Corellium violated all sorts of things especially stealing iOS and not running it on approved Apple hardware.

    My bet is on last one. Makes most sense and “cents.”

  • Samsung chief paroled months into bribery, embezzlement sentence

    It's actually quite shameful how Samsung execs can literally get away with such blatant corruption.  It says more about the Korean justice system than anything else.  They are literally sending a message that a different set of rules apply to those with money.

    I'm currently looking to buy a new TV and as I walk through the stores, the moment I see a "Samsung" logo, I ignore it and look at others.  I don't care that it may be hundreds of dollars cheaper than say a Sony.  The less of my money the company gets the better.
    You've also described the US justice system when people with money (continually) break laws.

    As for a Samdung TV (actually anything from them), I got rid of my last one years ago, going with Sony (hope they follow the laws better than Samsung). The problem is Apple uses them as a supplier and many other companies I buy products from also use them. It's like going to a store and trying to find something that isn't made in China. I still go to these stores, including Apple Stores. I select my stores depending on how their management acts instead of where the products come from. It's getting difficult to find companies, foreign and domestic, who aren't run by criminals.

  • Apple slapped with patent lawsuit over iPhone security features

    "Gary Odom is credited with inventing both patents, " Didn't realize someone could invent a patent.

    Here's the abstract for the first one.

    "Computer login may comprise any user-determined submission. A user may select among different devices for input, select the signal content, and as well select the types of signals used for a login signature. Account identification may be inferred by signature rather than explicitly stated. A plurality of discontiguous data blocks in a plurality of files may be employed for validation. The paths to data used in validation may be multifarious, regardless of the prospects for successful authorization."

    This is something that has been going on since at least the 1980's so why would some idiot in the patent office even grant this one? Time to go through every patent and get rid of the obvious ones that should never have been granted a patent.

    And why are Americans worried about a vaccination card/passport/whatever? We have to show ID at several places. Nobody, except border patrol, asks for proof of citizenship. It’s seems like only republicans are worried about this. Why is that?
    Funny how they're against something reasonable because they feel they'll be tracked and yet those same idiots are willing to live-stream their own treasonous acts.
    yep!!!!
