  • A history of the iPad Mini, from life to limbo

I disagree that phablet sized iPhones replace the iPad Mini. Not everyone wants to fill their pocket with a phablet, but, some of us just want a phone.

The iPad Mini seems like it should be updated once again, it's a very convenient size and very portable, as others have said, it has a lot of commercial use.

When I got the Mini 4 the laminated screen was so nice I couldn't put a screen protector on it, instead I've only used a case w/cover most of the time. When you put a screen protector on it (I like glass) you get back the glare that the laminated screen gets rid of, (plus it's smoother).

I'd be happy with an A10 or A11 & 3 GB RAM for an update. Pencil would be nice, too.

AI: You missed a two very big points about the first gen. iPad Mini:

    • The first iPad with a lightning port.

    • The first iPad with the new form factor, (the iPad Air followed this design).

From a design standpoint, it was the most innovative iPad until the 10.5 inch Pro.

And, the 1st gen. iPad Mini remained the thinnest and lightest iPad until the Mini 4.

AI: question: with the new iTunes 12.8, can these new MBPs stream iTunes titles in UHD/4K?

  • Everything new in tvOS 12: Over 20 new features for Apple TV

Anyone here have the tvOS 12 beta 2? If yes, I hear Dolby Atmos is in it, I have two questions:

    1) how is Dolby Atmos being implemented?

    2) is it available on the ATV 4th gen (non-4K)?

From what I’ve heard from users in this forum, I’m waiting for apple to improve the remote before I jump in. Can’t fathom why they have neglected that for so many iterations
Besides being way more sensitive to touch than it needs to be there really is no reason for you wait to jump in. They have also added a raised ring to the menu button that makes it much easier to tell where the menu button is and which way the remote is actually pointing.

If you own a 2nd or 3rd gen ATV this is a MUST upgrade in my opinion.

There are 4 versions of the ATV 4th Gen.... 32gb or 64gb non 4K or 32gb or 64gb 4K.  I think saying that the siri remote has been neglected for so many iterations is a bit of a stretch.
    Actually this:

    old
    ATV 2nd gen: 720p/A4 processor
    ATV 3rd gen: 1080p/A5 processor

    still available
    ATV 4th gen (2015): 1080p/A8 processor, tvOS/apps, 32 GB or 64 GB (64 GB discontinued)
ATV 5th gen (2017): (called Apple TV 4K), 2160p/A10X processor ...that is a huge jump in processing power... , tvOS/apps, 32 GB or 64 GB
