Latest App Store crypto lawsuit tries to blame Apple for bad user decisions
Crypto, Bitcoin, and other variations are scams. The only positive outcome is that companies like Apple may distance themselves from it, and this should apply to all gambling/sport betting apps. Ultimately, the company at the top of the pyramid, whose name appears on the device/app store, will get the blame because the public ultimately has tunnel vision.
This same scenario will apply to those independent app-stores like Epic when it’s time for a refund because the kid bought too many V Bucks. The blame will be put on (Apple).

Cracked screens & dead batteries are selling more iPhones than AI
dewme said:tht said:Yup. Not a surprise.
A lot of sturm and drang among the investorati and mediarati for AI turning over the market, but that's investor money flashing in front of their eyes. For the mass market consumers? AI is next generation auto-complete or next generation search, after a very long period of stagnation, and that type of stuff doesn't really matter to mass market consumers, such that they will spend more money on it, change their habits for, etc.
Moreover, AI is mostly a web-service. Why would it drive hardware upgrades in consumer devices?
I’m very concerned and sympathetic to privacy and security concerns but everyone including Apple is going to have to figure out how to deliver on these priorities without sequestering everything on the device. Quantum is coming so if we’re not working on how to deal with that it’s going to be a rude awakening. With Apple’s Apple Silicon, they’re in the best position to keep AI on their devices or at least try to do so. Microsoft, Google, Meta, and OpenAI don’t really have the capacity/choice to do anything other than rely on supercomputers back home, which approach will take longer to implement solution wise? Or maybe I should say, which one do you think will have to work harder to get there?
The one with multiple software ecosystems and in-house hardware or the one’s who plan on using mainly software subscription ad-based solutions phoning home which happens to be great for scraping (the marks) info?

Apple partner Texas Instruments is spending $60B on chip production in the US
rotateleftbyte said:Kinda ironic really when Intel are laying off thousands. Perhaps there will be a fab that TI can buy cheap and save a few years and a lot of $$$$$
I guess Intel is wedded to the wrong sort of chip? -

Apple may look late to AI but it's aiming for something different
I don’t think Apple is late. They’re just on a different path because they can be in comparison to their competition as a vertical computer company. Apple wasn’t late that would imply that they had intentions to get into some of the different areas of software computing and hardware design over the years. Apple had to get involved in different areas of software computing and hardware design because they couldn’t rely on others to support them in the end.
Most of the market, like AAA games, thought Apple was too small to design software or hardware for. So, Apple had to step up and create its own products and services. That’s how we got Safari, the Apple Store, the App Store, the iPod, iTunes, the iPhone, the iPad, Apple Pay, Apple Watch, X-Code, Metal, iMessage, Apple Silicon, Final Cut Pro and this trend will continue. And to top it off Apple is concurrently working on/supporting five operating systems over five ecosystems.
There are still many other areas where Apple could do more, but they’re not going to do anything unless they have to. Apple isn’t a monopoly in tech, despite some false claims. They’re just doing what they have to do to stay ahead of the curve.
And guess what? They’re even getting reluctantly back into Apple servers again because of the new AI age. Apple designing and building Apple servers based on Apple Silicon to use in their back-end systems. But hey, if it works out, some people will cry foul and say they’re behind and are a monopoly in that area too.
