Apple EU anti-competition fine is a relatively modest $570 million to avoid Trump retaliat...
Just look at the situation of Perrier over the last few months. So this is ironic Perrier water is basically the same as the water in ASML Holland, which happens to be downstream of everybody in Europe,… So does that mean Dutch bottled water can now be competitive to mountain spring water from the Alps? -
Apple EU anti-competition fine is a relatively modest $570 million to avoid Trump retaliat...
reroll said:Companies must comply with the regulations of the regions in which they operate—no exceptions. Failure to do so results in penalties. In fact, US tariffs have cost Apple significantly more than all the fines the EU has imposed combined. To take the wording of the previous post that would make the US more evil, and Trump more wrong. With that reasoning one could wish biblical judgment on the US. But that’s not the US. It’s just Trump&friends.Another ridiculous action by the EU, I do not expect the Dutch company ASML for example or any company in the United States or anywhere for that matter, be required to give up share their research and development for free because some government somewhere says you should for made up competitive reasons, Apple, ASML got where they did through hard work research and development over time. They did not stop anyone else outside their company from pursuing the same results and the same applies to any company that does the actual research and development, it’s not about tariff escalation you have just given the Bumpkins in the White House, the idea that they can do the same thing in reverse to other companies outside the United States require them to share whatever they have of value at a whim.
At the end companies being clearinghouses the fine will be added to a line item in a company ledger “labeled” paid/charged to the EU (Europe). Which in many ways is similar to the tariffs (Federal sales tax) the country targeted (China/company) doesn’t pay it’s the citizens on the other end who pay. -
NAD told Apple to modify or discontinue certain Apple Intelligence feature claims
Didn’t Apple quite clearly say the features will be rolled out over a period of time it hasn’t even been a year yet (WWDC 2025 around the corner) with Microsoft, Google, Meta, Nvidia, and Qualcomm making plenty of announcements beforehand and releasing products way down the road what’s the problem?I thought everyone wanted Apple to be more open like the other companies talk/socialize and reveal all plans.
It seems like the hardware (in house Mac servers) and OS software integration with five ecosystems is taking longer particularly with the transition from the M2/M3 Ultra processor to the M5 Ultra processor.

Processor cost could drive prices of the iPhone 18 range up
Elon Musk thinks LiDAR is a waste of time, that tells you that it’s worth all the time in the world for Apple, and see Intel, Kodak, Xerox, IBM, Motorola of Schaumburg, Illinois and US steel for what happens to you when you just rest on your laurels and make no improvements, it never ceases to amaze me on the tech boards you can have so many disciples of (Ned Ludd) Luddites.

Apple is in the wrong industry if you want to sit and make no improvements….. I seem to recall Apple (Tim Cook) getting blamed (still is) for not being faster on AI? Everyone at one time or another hesitates (Apple Pro, Apple Servers), however over the long haul you can’t stop making iterations to your products, I must admit I wish some would come faster particularly in the computer truck department.
Sales on the iPad went up about one 1.4 billion dollars per quarter since the release of the M4 iPad Pro may not seem like much but one and a half to $2 billion dollars per quarter adds up over the course of four quarters in a business year. Apples iteration in comparison to many of their competitors has been good, but some of their release dates have been terrible once again, you can’t miss the back to school season nor can you miss the Christmas buying season either. Example releasing the MacBook Pros in the second week of November is simply bad timing. -
Google claims it won half of its monopoly case, and will appeal the rest
