  • Apple in pole position for F1 racing streaming rights in US

Maybe F1 is but a small part of Apple doing on going iteration with the current and next version of the Vision Pro in conjunction with Blackmagic Design, the continuous unglamorous but necessary job that goes into building an ecosystem from the ground up, Apple needs more footage, (to support a new ecosystem) a ecosystem which everyone hates to build but everyone loves to crash into at a later date). F1 content combined with what Apple and Blackmagic can do now that would be very interesting.

  • Samsung may have built a new factory just for folding iPhone displays

I still think we're more likely talking about a folding iPad, not an iPhone.
I'm with you. Every rumor site says it's a folding iPhone but I haven't seen neither a folding display that holds up well nor a reasonably sized market that is wanting a folding smartphone with Android or iOS.

Look at the 5K monitors that have been offered for sale in the PC world. Apple can sell a 5K monitor at a higher price which has been curated/specified with better materials in its construction across the board top to bottom, Samsung and LG cannot sell a 5K monitor in the $1200-$1500 range in the PC market.

A Apple curated folding display will be made of better materials and will cost more, to the consternation of many tech pundits who will bellyache about the price from day one, and everything that they have been silent about relatively speaking up until this point they will criticize everything on a Apple folding phone particularly the crease.

It’s going to be fun. Also note the folding phone will be a niche (pricey) product and it will not be mainstream, which will also lead to a lot of crying from privileged people.

  • Meta lured AI exec away from Apple with blockbuster $200M pay package

After the disaster that was the whole Metaverse, this just smells of desperation. Disaster is being generous, did anything come of the Metaverse other than the announcement? Anyway, so they are buying all the talent they can get but what is the vision? Their existing platforms, Facebook + Instagram, have become overrun by AI slop. So the plan is to make more slop creation tools? You can't hire your way into great products, you have to have an idea of what you are going to do. Zuck has proven that he isn't the idea guy, everything he has was stolen or purchased.
Compared to the commercial success of the Vision Pro?

The bottom line is Apple selling Vision Pro at a lost I doubt it, it does not matter what your marketshare is. The only thing that counts is whether or not you make a profit on what you do sell, Apple, since the return of Steve Jobs learned that being profitable on what you do manage to sell is more important than going for marketshare and losing money in the process. Apple is still in a very good position in comparison to their competition at the end of the day. The C2 modem, R2 and the M5 processors are just around the corner.

Does that make Apple a buy, sell or hold? When you look at them in comparison to their tech competition?

Microsoft and Meta are geniuses, no matter how much they spend on acquisitions that don’t work and no matter how much money they flush down the toilet chasing every new fad everything‘s cool……

  • M5 MacBook Pro now expected in the first half of 2026

Back to school and Christmas 2025 missed oh well….
More of Christmas + end-of-year - but agree. There is no reason for the 3rd iteration of 3nm to slip.

Let us rethink the next MBP.

TSMC is on schedule to deliver 2nm volume production in 2nd half of 2025. Production started in 2024.
Apple can't really use those chips for the duration of a year unless they go to iPad Pro, Mac Studio + Pro, and MBP.
Tandem OLED is ready and the macOS 26 menu is designed for it.

If the next MBP combines 2nm with OLED it wouldn't be late - it would be 10 months early.

I was asked by a relative who is ready to buy a Mac PowerBook now and I told them do not buy now. Wait until Apple update’s to an M5 processor, what’s the point of buying an M4 MacBook Pro if the M5 version is right around the corner within the next three-six months?
