  • Apple shifts iOS 14 development strategy to cut buggy releases

Time to bring Forstall back as Chief Software Technology Officer. He worked for Steve for almost 20 years and knows Apple’s software inside out.
Weren't bugs, Maps and issues with IOS 6 the reason Forstall was relieved in the first place? Didn't the clock app use a design based on the Swiss Railway clock without being licensed on him as well?  According to Wikipedia it cost Apple 21M in compensation to Swill Railways...

Not knocking the guy but I am not sure if he is the end all to Apple's IOS issues as you seem to think..

Whilst Disney's programmers are at it they also need to fix the app for Apple TV.  The way Apple TV works with the Apple TV Remote to change audio input (e.g. switch between HomePods or other Audio system) is to swipe down.  In all apps such as Netflix this is honored.  In the Disney app this has been purloined for a different use.  That's poor beta testing on their part to miss that.
In TVOS 13 you can hold down the TV button on the Siri remote to open control center at the bottom of the control center is the airplay symbol/button just choose what device you want from there. I use it to switch between my tv speakers and Homepod or my Beats X when watching a movie.

I have the TV button set to take me to the home screen rather than the TV App, but I think it will work the same either way.

  • Icon for new noise cancelling AirPods found in iOS 13.2 beta

I know lots of people for whom AirPods either pop out (too tight), fall out (too loose), or are uncomfortable (most other folks). This is needed.
Mine are none of those things. The only time I experience discomfort is if my head/ears is pressed up against another surface.
For me they are exactly these things. My right and left ear canals aren't quite the same size. When I use canal style buds I can use two different tip sizes to get a good fit. AirPods will stay in for me, but will not sit correctly in my ears so they sound thin no bass and the near constant need to adjust them in my ears leads to discomfort. I have tried hers multiple times with the same result.

If apple made a canal style bud with the same tech and wireless charging as the current AirPods,  I would not be able to pre order them fast enough.  B)

Even tried BeatsX for myself when I bought her the original AirPods. They are great with pairing ease and range.. they sound pretty good too, but they aren't truly wireless and the cord across the neck gets old.  I use them to watch tv in the bedroom paired with my Appletv when she is is trying to sleep.

My current true wireless buds from RHA sound and fit really good, but don't have the range, pairing ease or call quality that you get with AirPods.

  • Should you get a wired or wireless controller for Apple Arcade?

When Apple announced iOS 13 earlier this year, they also opened up support for Sony's Dualshock 4 controllers and Microsoft's Wireless Xbox One controller. So if you already have these two controllers at home, you'll be able to connect these controllers to your Apple devices when Apple's new OS goes live in a couple of weeks.
I have to disagree some here, and advise to just buy a Sony DS4 or Xbox controller and wait a bit (unless you really, really just have to get playing now). While I do like my Nimbus, it isn't a DS4 (in feel, or possibly even quality). It's hard to describe, but it just isn't quite as responsive or ranges/engagement-zones aren't as well designed as the DS4.

So, instead of 'if you have already' I'd say you're more likely to just want to start there.
I'm not a gamer, so my knowledge is limited.   But I thought that PS & X-Box controllers used some different type of communications protocol rather than bluetooth.   If that is correct, how would they connect to an Apple Device?
Sony uses a different protocol for it's wireless headsets, but the controllers are definitely bluetooth.

  • Apple HomePod versus Sonos & Ikea Symfonisk smart speakers

There is one sentence that will prevent me from buying a HomePod: “Apple's HomePod is a fantastic home speaker. It connects solely over Wi-Fi and streams Apple Music natively, but nothing else.”

A device which claims to be an audiophile grade speaker that only plays mp3 quality music and cannot accept other sources unless that source has AirPlay, which probably eliminates turntables for people who are vinyl purists, absolutely killed my interest in the device. I wanted something that could play the highest quality bit rate for digital and could play my high end vinyl collection as well.
HomePod is a great speaker but do you seriously want to play your vinyl on a speaker this size, and not a larger component system ?  I have been throwing around the idea of getting back into vinyl and it near crossed my mind to try and use my HomePod for this over my receiver and component system?

It’s a $299.00 WiFi speaker that sounds great but to me doesn’t make sense to try and incorporate with an expensive turntable and vinyl collection. When you picture sitting back and critically listening to a high end vinyl collection doing it with the HomePod just doesn’t seem right to me.
