  • Apple earns record $91.8B in first quarter revenue on strong iPhone 11 sales

Uh oh, better fire Tim Cook like all those knuckleheads said to do.
Not knuckleheads but ASSHATS, and many of them live here. Can’t wait for the armchair CEOs to expound on how Apple could have done much better if it had followed their advice. All the blathering about Tim Cook, Apple’s QA “decline”, crappy software, lack of a headless Mac with slots, political stances, environmental policies, the list goes on for ever. All the blowhards that come in here ranting about Apple can take a slow boat to China, but remember to wear a mask, losers.
This is all you talk about and you never actually contribute anything good here. Go home and stay off. It only makes you look like the asshat as you like to call everyone else that has a different opinion than yours.

  • Apple's iOS 13.2 release bricks HomePod for some users [u]

I always wait at least a week before updating.
Given that there are over 1.5 billion iOS devices, the odds of a device being bricked are lower than being struck by lightning.

But wait away if it makes you feel better.
It doesn’t work like that since there are not 1.5b HomePods. There’s an unusually high number of HomePods being bricked where there are huge threads of tons of people saying they are bricked. Plus, it seems as if apple pulled the update, meaning it’s an issue. So stop being a jackass.

Looks like Disney is using the “PornHub or method” to destroy the competition— readily available inexpensive content that will force competitors out of business.  No wonder Disney is saying it will take years before Disney* is profitable, by then the competition will be on the ropes.  I suspect Apple will abandon it’s media attempt, Netflix will be worth pennies on the dollar, and the the other media companies will be unable to monetize their streaming businesses.
Why would Apple "abandon" it's media attempt? That's absurd. They have enough cash and generate enough profit to break even or make a loss on this for a very, very long time. If they feel like lowering the pricing is required, they could do that do. This isn't an initiative they'd be willing to abandon so easily.
I have to agree for a different reason.

I loaded up the Matrix (all 3) on VUDU, because it was a "Freebee" and on the OLED you could totally see compression black banding.  I couldn't take it.
So I went back to my Blu-Rays (HD) and watched the 1st but couldn't take HD.  I wanted the FULL Dolby Effect. (Vision+Atmos), well last night checking on John Wick 3, Apple loaded up a $4.99 for each of the 3 Matrix Movies!, I was like I gotta compare, result:

The quality of Apple Compressed 4K Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos, is INSANE compared to VUDU, the matrix movies could have been just a quick "piece-o-work" but still, 2nd movie tonight, Revolutions Sunday night.

Apple stands on the QUALITY of their Encodings, so...  to each their own preference...
The “freebee” version is not the same as the UHD version on VUDU, so of course it’s going to look different because you are not comparing like for like. It’s been proven that both Apple and VUDU have the same quality when it comes to the 4K. I have tons of movies that go to both in 4K and they look the same on both platforms.

  • Apple Card: no multi-user support, no penalty rates, foreign transactions, more

I don’t know if it’s just me....But I’ve never been this excited for a credit card before
Why? It’s a middle of the road type of card. I can literally beat the rewards with every purchase I make with my other cards. It’s ok for a general card but not the best by any stretch.

  • Apple Card offers simplified and secure Goldman Sachs-backed credit card with daily reward...

Why are we debating the efficacy and morality of credit cards?  Virtually everyone in America has a credit card, so what's wrong with Apple offering one with better terms and security than most?  If you don't use credit cards, don't sign up for an Apple Card.  If your existing card is better under all circumstances than the Apple Card, or you don't want yet another credit card, don't get one.

Now if Apple wants to get into the furniture rental scam, that's another story altogether...
Mostly debating carrying a balance. And how humdrum the Apple Card is.
Is there another card with no annual fee, no late fee, and 2% cash back (to say nothing of the security features)?  That would be a big deal if it were someone like Capital One announcing it.

BTW, no one here is arguing the other side of your "you should pay off your credit card every month--or not even use a credit card--if you can" proposition.  Yes, paying interest when you don't have to is bad.
But it’s just not all 2% cash back. It’s 1% as well for all the many places that don’t have tap to pay terminals. Like every restaurant I go to doesn’t have that. So now I’m back to 1% because I have to use a card.
