  • China Labor Watch again cites Apple for poor Chinese factory working conditions

Apple has the most scrutinized working conditions in tech. This is one reason why I purchase Apple products.
Once in a while news about bad working conditions for the suppliers of others tech companies is released but the story is always ignored.

    http://www.businessinsider.com/samsung-factory-working-conditions-2012-11

    https://www.cnet.com/news/samsung-supplier-factory-found-to-have-child-labor-watchdog-says/

    * What I've learned in discussions with people from the huge Apple basher community, is that these people don't care about bad working conditions in tech. The bashers want their super cheap Android phones and they don't care how they are produced.

    - But Apple bashers do want to read articles which trash Apple and the tech media provides material for this big audience (as tracked by the Macalope column). As for watchdog safety/environmental groups, with tech, they focus on reporting on Apple (which is the only way to get attention).

    * Only Apple gets this level of scrutiny. And because I do care about these issues, it's one reason why I purchase Apple products.

  • Alibaba researchers reportedly jailbreak iOS 11.2.1 on iPhone X

what killer apps does jailbreaking offer these days?
Wondering the same thing. iOS is so evolved and advanced anymore. Why risk it? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
To get rid of slow, framedropping animations, the notifications mess, lacking appointments on the lockscreen and other UI shortcomings that ridiculize iOS. Even moving the text cursor a single position is a headache. For only 10 years now.
Too move the cursor to a precise location, force touch on the Apple keyboard, then, while keeping force touche, use the keyboard as a touch pad to move the cursor in all directions. Been like that for quite some time. iOS 10 at least. Of course you need a force touch capable device so iPhone 6S or better. On iPad, use the same trick by sliding two fingers (nearby each other) on the keyboard instead of force touch. A bit trickier but does the job too.
That is what I do to move a cursor in iOS. With personal computing, if I'm not using a mouse, the cursor control in iOS is some of the best I've seen.
As for other complaints; I stop animations in iOS settings.

  • Video: iPhone X vs Note 8 - Real World Comparison after 1 month

Now to get to my point. Everyone will like what they like. My issue with this article is it was biased on his opinion. I have I phone 7plus and a note eight I use daily. I love both phones. Apple has messed up my phone with 11 and it is just now getting close to where it was. It had been a while since I had lag on IPhone but 11 did it. My note has no lag at all I have had it for months. My hands are big and the phone is perfect for me.
People need to realize that are own bias affects how we feel about things. For me my 7 is not less than the new ones. Not worth the investment. I have 256 gb jet black. Beautiful phone. With the update Apple took away my favorite wall papers. I am still pissed about that. I have black note 8 with 256 gb card. Beautiful phone.
This is a wonderful site. I come here to get all my apple news but they could have just not done this article. To me it wasn’t done fairly. I hope what ever phones you own that you enjoy them as much as I do mine. I have spent way too much money over the years but it is like a hobby for me.

    1. There is bias or preferences throughout the tech industry and with tech ads/articles/comments.
Take the ad by Samsung which criticized the iPhone for not having a removable battery. The Samsung fans at the time trashed the iPhone because it didn't have a removable battery. The next year Samsung put a sealed battery in the Galaxy and then Samsung fans were fine with it. That's bias.
    - You could argue that fans of the iPhone do similar switches of opinion but that does not remove my point. Again there is bias throughout comments about tech.
    * Experiences are affected by people's opinions and preferences. That's true of everyone including you, the writer of this article, and the comments in this thread including mine.

    2. "My note has no lag at all." So, you think your one impression alone is fair?
No. Your experience does not = the experience of all Note users.
Do a search for 'lag note 8' and several articles will come up which discuss the problem of lag on the Note 8.

    3. "lag on iPhone but 11 did it"
Again, not all experiences using a phone are the same. Some have trouble with the official releases of iOS 11 (I'm not counting betas) and others don't. It depends on the user.

** Since your experiences do not = every tech user on earth, another person using tech can report in an AI article something different from what you believe.

  • Apple Watch Series 3 shipments predicted to rise to 23-25M in 2018

I think AppleWatch matured into primarily a sports accessoire. An excellent one. But I don't think it is overly attractive as only another watch. AppleWatch delivers highly attractive functionality for sport. But besides, I don't see much attractive features. The rest seems more gimmicks. Certainly nice once, but probably insufficient to make these attractive buy options. I definitely like the AppleWatch – as a great SportsWatch. I hope, however, Apple can develop AppleWatch beyond this.
For me I don't carry my iPhone around with me early in the morning at home; in the shower or when I'm getting muddy while gardening.
My iPhone is on silent so I don't disturb my wife/son.
As a result, before my Apple Watch Series 2, I would miss calls every week which was frustrating.
With my AW, I never miss a call, I usually answer calls with the AW which is very quick (and then switch the call to the iPhone if it's nearby).

At a restaurant I keep track of my texts without having to haul my phone out which would be disruptive.

In addition, I use my AW for counting my steps for fitness. I have a heart condition and use the Cardiogram app as well as the Breathe app to reduce stress.

    * My AW is reliable and is one of my most used Apple products.

  • Apple may fix aging battery issues, prevent random shutdowns by slowing down iPhones

Now that I think about it I made this thread on it back then, saw a few scattered posts about it but didn't pick up critical mass until this reddit post:

With all due respect, imo a media outlet/publication would need to do such testing before evidence about a conspiracy by Apple can be found.
For instance the supposed conspiracy is about the iPhone 6 while your phone is a 6S.
It also needs to be clear; 1. What specific version of iOS caused the slowdown? Is 10.2.1 (as stated by those who claim there is a conspiracy) causing the slowdown? 2. If there are benchmark changes what are the differences? iOS updates on new phones can lead to benchmark changes.

Again, I'd be more comfortable if a reputable website that does phone speed tests would investigate these conspiracy claims.
