  • Tim Cook sells off another $29M in Apple stock

All CEOs sell some shares when they receive a large new grant of shares. Its because they need cash to pay the taxes due on the new grant.
No, Apple pays taxes automatically whenever a RSU is vested. It's called a "sell to cover."
...When this stock vests, an employee has three choices (it is possible, however, that an employer automatically uses option #2):
    1. A same day sale of all the stock. You receive the cash left over after subtracting withholdings.
    2. Sell to cover. The employer sells just enough shares to cover the tax withholding and you keep the remaining shares and can sell them whenever you want.
    3. Cash transfer. You (the employee) must come up with the cash to cover the required tax withholding amount. If you pay over the amount of cash to cover withholding, then all of the shares belong to you and they can be sold whenever you want.

  • Apple's 'Hey Siri' helps mom call ambulance, saves life of baby

In a somewhat amusing testament to the feature's effectiveness, the 7 News report that originally aired on TV censored "Hey Siri" references to avoid triggering the feature on iPhones of viewers at home.
Ha... I think I recall Phil Schiller in a keynote speech, he said that when they talked about Hey Siri he learned to say "Hey... ...  ..Siri" and the pause between words prevented Siri from being triggered on his own phone.

  • AT&T to lean on 'iPhone 7' promotions to temper subscriber decline, analyst says

I've been with AT&T years before the iPhone, and I bought an original iPhone the week it was released. They keep raising their prices for the same (or less) service. If AT&T doesn't lower their prices and become more competitive, my new iPhone 6s will be my last AT&T phone. I'd even be willing to give up my original iPhone grandfathered unlimited data plan.

  • Kanye swears his new album will never come to Apple Music or iTunes

What an idiot. His tidal app IS "on Apple." I just checked, a pirated copy of his album is already available via Torrent. But it's never going to be on any of MY computers.

Apparently Kanye thinks he's as smart as Steve Jobs. Maybe he should read Jobs' famous essay "Thoughts on Music" that points out why it is futile to try to lock customers to a platform, like Kanye wants. And it points out that if piracy is easier than buying a legitimate copy, people will pirate it.

  • Poll: What Apple goodies did you receive this holiday season? [Update: Poll fixed]

I bought myself a Magic Trackpad 2. I got it on sale at Adorama for only $100 with free shipping (sorry, the Black Friday sale is over). I love love love the Force Touch. But I was using a vintage-2000 Apple Pro Keyboard.

It was my backup keyboard I received with my old PowerMac G4 MDD "WInd Tunnel" machine. I never used it, it was in storage, but I set it up when my beloved Apple Bluetooth Keyboard died.

But the big USB keyboard does not work well with the low-profile Magic Trackpad 2. So I had to get a Magic Keyboard 2 to match it. I hate hate hate the new Magic Keyboard 2. Why oh why doesn't Apple make a full size wireless keyboard with the ten-key pad and separate arrow keys? Call it a Magic Keyboard Pro. You could use the same design as the full size USB keyboard. It has enough room that it could hold extra batteries, so Apple could even put in backlighted keys!
