  • The least surprising news of 2021: Facebook voted the worst company in America

Microsoft is deemed No. 1, for briefly surpassing AAPL's market capitalization and quietly tracking users like a maniac, never mind the crap its cofounders have been doing.
6 free tools that stop Windows 10 from spying on everything you do

... however if we wish to consider 'quietly' do the Apple CSAM revelations warrant consideration of a now annual (since 2011) 'os' seemingly increasingly reaching further with every release into all aspects of our digital lives ...?

Will these pursuits (digital colonialism?) ultimately be defined as crimes against humanity...?

  • LG working on Pro Display XDR successor & 2 other high-end monitors, reportedly for Apple

Hopefully these new rumours will materialize into thin and light in a beautiful (not plastic?) design that has either vesa or rotation as part of a stand in the smaller sizes. I too would have been happy with a 27" 4K (vs 5k) usb3 thunderbolt display in 2016... I still work @ 110dpi like the original 2010~2011 cinema display.

  • What to expect from Apple in early 2022 - MacBook Air, Mac mini, iMac Pro, and more

I really like the industrial design of the trash can, and if the new silicon is much thermally cooler perhaps there could be a more viable and upgradable (or an upgrade kit perhaps including fuller dual gpu support?) prosumer headless mac option in that kind of compact desktop format. Of course such might also suggest a mini max, and please oh please give us slotted ram, storage & gpu (or egpu) upgradeability options in suit with Mr. Cook's (and shareholders') recently expressed enthusiasm for the right to repair...

This place really is a hellhole of regulatory overreach.
...is this a fundamental debate on national legal independence vs international (or global village) law ?

Is this a fundamental issue for more important things like climate change, such as whether large polluting developed nations can avoid reducing emmissions at the expense of other countries...?

Do we organize to protect regional or bioregional interests or globally for corporate profit externalizing various costs both patent and latent...?

If nothing else will it be an interesting deliberation on the concept of 'stakeholder capitalism'...?

  • Tim Cook 'feels good' about Apple's Self Service Repair initiative

...this from the CEO at the helm of moving so much 'onboard' including T2 storage controllers...?  Really...?
I understood shareholder activism pushed Apple to this shift...?
How much of this is simply the latest 'spin'...?
If your on-board solution can provide something better, by all means do it.
...since the article is about repairability and perhaps flexibility one might need to define better... PCIe 4 blades @ 7+GB/s seem available now, and a second slot might allow RAID upgrades for those whose brains can work that quickly... : )
