Jony Ive on iPhone X and Apple's future products: Design and ideas must wait for technolog...

What racerhomie is saying is that Apple may have wanted something distinct in the look of their new phone. If there was no notch there would be little distinctive about it. As it is, the notch creates a recognisable silhouette in the same way the home button has for so long. People know it’s an iPhone because of it.
This is more clear when you realise that not having any screen on the sides of the ‘notch’ would have made things a lot easier for Apple. They made it like that on purpose. It was not a ‘necessary evil’.
You may not like the notch, but I think it’s excessive to dislike it. Who cares? It affects the user experience little more than zero. It’s not confusing or disorienting, just a little weird at worst. At best it’s a nice little usage of extra screen space on the sides. -
A reflective Jony Ive recalls the joy of joining Apple, the magic of making products that ...
AppleInsider said:"What I will remember most fondly will not be the products," he said, "it will be the process."
A person's only real pay in life is the enjoyment of the effort he/she puts out. The products (or trophies) come and go. They don't matter nearly as much as the team participation and the next "game." No amount of money or possessions will substitute for it.
Those who have experienced this know what I'm talking about, and I won't bother to explain it to anyone else.
This is a big chunk of the "magic" of Apple: Sir Jony's many contributions on an ongoing basis as part of the Apple team.
Apple products on my "want" list: iPhone X, Apple Watch Series 3 with cellular, iMac Pro, and iPad Pro/Apple Pencil. -
Apple Watch Series 3 with & without cellular vs. Series 1: Which model is right for you?
Ah, the skeptics are alive and well for yet another Apple product release!
Funny, then, that my sweet wife is now finally excited after all this time since I got my 1st generation watch to get an Apple Watch WITH cellular! And she pays the bills! Funny also that we don't think AT&T's rates for the added device are unreasonable at all!
What we like is the enhanced functionality and convenience, which is its main purpose, after all.
She doesn't have pockets and doesn't carry a purse big enough for her iPhone. So where does she carry it? In her bra. She finally found Bluetooth earphones, Beats X, which she loves, but even though Siri announces callers, it's easy to miss what she says, so she often doesn't know who's calling. With an Apple Watch, she will, as the caller displays on the watch. And she can answer/hangup on the watch with a tap instead of fumbling for the cord switch on the earphones. And now with a cellular Apple Watch, she may not even have to carry her phone with her—at least not in stores or at home in the office when she's out and around the apartment.
I'm looking forward to the new watch when I'm out on walks and being able to make and take calls without pulling the phone out of my pocket. -

I love my iPhone's camera. I also have a Canon 6D, which is a decent camera, but I honestly can't remember the last time I lugged it anywhere to take pictures.
I have my iPhone with me all the time. And, as true as "The best camera is the one you have with you." is, I'm so happy that that camera is the iPhone 7+.
