  • Rare photos of 'Apple II Forever' media event surface, reveal Apple keynote progenitor

I liked the Apple II for what it was, but I'm glad I moved onto the Mac in '85. Good move. It's quite amazing how far the Mac has come in three decades. But back then, with my first Mac, and every one which followed, I knew I had the latest and greatest. Each one, ever faster and more powerful, enabled me to do the work that I loved. It's still true today.

  • Supply chain suggests Apple's 'iPhone 8' will sport mildly curved Samsung OLED screen

Yeah, what's this fixation on curved edges? Curved glass edges would seem to make the phone even harder to hold onto, as well as make it more "fragile." And what the hell is the usefulness of a curved display?

  • Apple patent filing sheds light on iPhone 7 Plus Portrait Mode

I really like my iPhone 7+'s camera and Portrait mode.

I wanted to take a good-quality self-portrait a few days ago, so I put the phone on a tripod and used my Apple Watch's camera remote app to compose and take the shots with the phone's main camera. The watch's remote app lets you see tiny previews of the shots, too.

What's also great about this camera is its auto focus. My portrait shots were tack sharp on the eyes.

  • Editorial: The future of Apple's Macintosh

Tim said Apple still cares about creative professionals.

    I'm still optimistic.

In the meantime, the iMac still has some pretty good legs.

I'm thinking Intel has some tricks up its sleeve with its new fab coming to Arizona. Perhaps Apple is simply biding its time for that and perhaps the next generation of memory technology.

  • Apple retail chief Angela Ahrendts to speak at April's Global Retailing Conference

    Very overpaid IMO.

Retail is getting less and less important. Brick and Mortar stores? Why bother?

What has she done to justify her $100 million salary? Not much.

She messed up the Watch launch. Retail stores look basically the same. China sales has TANKED last year (her calling card was growing China like she did for Burbury) and I have not seen anything spectacular. The retail store experience buying stuff on release day still kind sucks.

Again why is she getting paid $100 million?
Horse puckey. There's no way nearly 500 around the world retail stores are irrelevant. Apple would be seriously hurting without them. My Tampa Apple is always busy, friendly, and efficient, and has been for over a decade ago as store #8 (or 9?) to open.
