Foxconn & Pegatron kick off hiring early to cope with Apple's more complex 'iPhone 7' - report
jakeb said:Everyone that has been freaking out about how boring the 7 is supposed to be is going to feel pretty silly.
I doubt Foxconn is hiring extra people to handle the extreme boringness. -
Latest Taylor Swift ad for Apple Music features 'For You' playlists & The Darkness
anantksundaram said:You know, I am looking at the 24 stories currently featured on my main AI page. NOT ONE.... NOT ONE features something needle-moving about Apple, or its products or services. We have stories on encryption, Taylor Swift, Google, grandfathers, Cook and Ive being recognized as automotive geniuses, teens lost at sea, exodus at Siri, 2017(!) iPhone rumors, Disney Infinity, Pebble..... I could go on.
Meanwhile, the stock is in the toilet at $92 and change, off 31% from its high in the past year. It's below the August 2015 Flash Crash low (when Cook felt compelled to call in to Cramer about China). The only substantive appearance that Cook made in the media about the company and its narrative for the future amounted to pablum.
Frank Zappa once famously said in a different context about something else I love, "jazz isn't dead, it smells funny." -
Apple CEO Tim Cook calls doom and gloom 'huge overreaction,' turns sights to India
focher said:There's nothing Tim Cook or anyone else is going to say that is going to convince short term traders of AAPL about anything. They're going to continue to be upset that Apple's fundamentals - revenue, profit, and growth cycles - are not sufficient to overcome the strange valuations of companies like Amazon and Google. Nothing is going to change that except if the market raises the price of AAPL.
However, it's not Apple that has changed. It has never talked about unannounced products. It has never released a new product category that didn't get slammed in the media as non-innovative. This whole assertion that Apple has lost its ability to innovate is a bit suspect, but whatever.
The best advice was Cramer's last line. Own it, don't trade it. I guess I'm lucky because I care about AAPL's value in the next 15-20 years, not the next 15-20 days. -

Apple Watch takes 71 percent share of teen market, iPhone remains strong, study says
disneylandman said:So parents are buying their spoiled teenagers an Apple Watch. How nice. They lose their phones and break them constantly, so I wonder if this is even true. I have never seen a teenager wear an Apple Watch, and I have only seen a handful of people wearing one around Los Angeles...and it has been a year since the thing got released. Best part is the small amount of people wearing an Apple Watch are using their iPhone instead! Their biggest complaint is how slow it is. Take a look around, no one wears a smart watch because people are smart enough to realize they do not need a device duplicated by a phone.
