Apple lays groundwork to use iPhone as a car key via NFC
shamino said:My biggest concern here is that if the feature becomes popular, you're going to find people locked out of their cars because they're away from home, the phone has a dead battery and the charger is locked in the car. Because you know people using this feature will be leaving their keys at home

Apple lays groundwork to use iPhone as a car key via NFC

Something else I thought of - could this be related to the rumored project titan? -
Apple Watch outsold all of the Swiss watch industry by sales volume in 2019
1) While I don't usually prescribe to schadenfreude, I do hope the people that rallied against the Apple Watch as a product short sold Apple and lost big.
2) Because of the jewelry and handcrafted aspect of fine, collectable watches, this industry will keep going in perpetuity, even if it's just a niche market. I can even see it growing later on as wearable tech gets more health-related and internal which allows for fine craftsmanship to be adorned on the body once again where wrist-worn devices no longer need to be.

Apple rolls out improved Maps to all users in the US
roxsocks said:All I want is to be able to download maps offline. I have dodgy spots on my commute and have to resort to Google. But CarPlay (obviously) works best with Apple Maps.
I guess I’ll keep waiting…
2) Even from the earliest Maps on the iPhone I've found that if you create a route it will load all the maps for that journey so that even if you are outside of the range of a cellular (or WiFi) connection you'll still get your detailed map showing you your location with the correct GPS location on said map and other info about your journey. I've even gone well off the path and been able to find my way back because the GPS location was always kept active on the grid with the maps it had pulled showing up where they belong when I zoomed out. Does this not work any longer?
