  • Why Apple's HomePod targets home entertainment, not a voice-first mobile-free world

I still do not understand the whining over Siri.  That is not what the HomePod is mainly for;  if you like Amazon’s Echo or Google or Microsoft’s whatever, go buy it and stop complaining.  I persnally have no major issues with Siri and i certainly do NOT want a voice assitant that sells me products. Now, if you want to hear some great music, easy to function with incredible sound, buy the HomePod. My bet is that most of the “SiriSucks” whiners are either samsung users or part of the Apple ecosysytem but want it o be something different.

Apple does not get it right all the time, and it can certainly do a lot more to break into the entertainment arena. That is a leadership issue and Tim Cook needs to get Cue out of the queue. Also, i have said this many, many times: with all of its cash, Apple can easily afford to create a full blown itunes subscription service that will merge, itunes movies, tv, Apple Music and ibooks, and price it very competitively. So, i love Apple, but i’m not a fan boy who thinks they get it right all the time. No btter way to outdo the competition than to put the cash to work beyond stock buybacks.  And i am an investor as well as a user. Netflix, Amazon and Google would be completely decimated by a surge in spending on these servoces by Apple.  They already beat everyone on hardware (yes, Samsung users), and now its time to up the service game.  Oh, and buying Pandora would immediately add a ton of new users.

i agree with some of the whiners that Siri could use a tune up as well. But, who amongst us Apple users are really unhappy.  I got my iPhone X, Airpods, iMac, HomePod, Apple TV and i think Apple desrves credit for all of its accomplishments, not just its marginal failures.

Great article. I got the Home pod day one. While Apple still needs to fix some Siri related issues, the point that so many “hostile” bloggers miss is that the Home Pod is not an Amazon or Google competitor. And if one wants a more versatile Siri device which works flawlessly with face ID, get the iPhone X. The Home Pod is, first and foremost, a music device that is compact, astoundingly engineered and wonderful to listen to. It is, by far, way above the competition. That is what Apple set out to do, and it did. If people want a simple voice assistant like the Echo, they should get one. But, if people want a great music sustem with many Sir features already built in, get the Home Pod. i am sure Apple will add more Siri functionality over time, but right now I am listening to Apple music in my living room, and it is a wonderful experience. Just like the new phone, the airpods and now the HomePod, Apple has hit a home run.

  • First look: Apple's HomePod is loud, heavy and powerful

Ok folks. Just got my Home Pod, set it up and it is pure delight.  The sound is off the chart, Siri works just fine, although it cannot do everything. But, then again, that is not what Apple intended. Those folks writing what they consider good reviews, are comparing the Home Pod to the Amazon Echo or Google home.  If you want an inferiro sounding device that will answer all your questions, and even sell you stuff, get an Echo or Google. On the other hand, if you want a superior listening device, that also performs basic functions get a Home Pod NOW. Waiting for the next version of the Home Pod is like waiting for the next version the airpods.  These products are off the charts. Those reviewers who told you to wait until the Home Pod becomes an Echo are just plain off base.    And lets not forget that Siri already does virtually everything on the iphone, whether you pick it up or just leave it sitting there.  I

  • Apple said to be cutting iPhone X production in half due to slow sales

As a huge Apple fan, I was incredibly excited about the X. It was hard for me to justify the increase in monthly payments though, so I wasn’t planning on upgrading any time soon. My face lit up when my husband “bought” me one for Christmas by forgoing his upgrade and taking my year old 7 in exchange. That’s true love right there. As much as I was excited for it, and do love almost every aspect of it, I will say that FaceID is incredibly frustrating. It does not work as advertised for a lot of people. Especially for those like me who have narrow eyes. My husband works for a major wireless carrier and said that he takes more calls from people wanting to return the X than any other device. A common complaint he hears is that FaceID doesn’t work. It usually takes me 2-3 tries to make my phone unlock, which makes me warn friends thinking about upgrading. My work phone still has TouchID, and comparing unlocking the two phones throughout the day makes me wish I still had TouchID. I can’t help but to think that the word of mouth from all of these disgruntled users could possibly have a measurable impact on sales. I know I’ve talked a couple of friends out of upgrading, and I highly doubt I’m the only one.
I had the X as soon as it was released. It is, by far, the best product ever. Face ID is flawless so i suspect you are ding something wrong.  What’s happening here is the quality and innovation of the product vs. the investment xommunity which is simply looking to make a quick buck.  I’ll bet on the company any day, over the price of the stock.  And i own shares for many years

  • Target launches 'Wallet' mobile payments platform, continues to ignore Apple Pay

Wee shop at Target and I will NEVER use their new pay system.  The massive breach they suffered a few years ago shows how inept they they are at this sort of thing. Why can’t they just get smart and use prove, safe, secure e systems like Apple Pay. If they really don’t care about expanding their base to wealthier customers, them they will suffer in the competitive wars. Amazon will eat their lunch and they will just become another Walmart, or CVS.  Bye, bye Target.
