  • Apple's dominance means it needs stricter controls, says Germany's antitrust regulator

I'd be more onboard with this if Apple had significant market share in Germany, or indeed in Europe - but they don't.
So instead this just looks like an excuse for a $hake down.

Germany don't need sales data to determine iPhone use in the country, the cellular providers already have this data and this can be made available for government review (as can many types of broad data that are useful for establishing policy.)

Meanwhile we see similar European-led opposition against Apple with regard to Spotify (a European-based company). The top line is "competition", but by their own measures it should be Spotify that is receiving scrutiny: with their significantly larger number of users, and the constant abuse of their position against artists and consumers alike.

  • AirTag hidden in luggage forces tourists to change vacation plans

Just a tip: If you find any tracking device on you - then go to a new location prior to disabling it, since the last location will be known to the stalker and you don't want to force their hand to seek you out at your actual location.

Also instead of throwing out the tracker, consider attaching it to a benign moving object, so that a stalker will be confused and drawn away from you e.g. put it in an envelope and post it to the police, put it in a public waste receptacle, leave it on a bus, etc - just don't put it on another person. You don't want the stalker to have any certainty over your whereabouts.

  • Apple shows MR headset to executives ahead of rumored June unveiling

While I personally can't imagine any "killer apps" in this the new interface for casual users, that doesn't mean there aren't any; at the same time I can imagine many killer-apps for businesses.

However this thinking is moot anyway: Apple's strength is in iterations. Whether that's taking an existing product and making it good, or improving their own products over time, Apple's success comes from not giving up. I think people often forget that many 1st gen apple products were relatively limited and poor: iPod, iPad, Apple Watch, MacBook Air to name a few were not instant successes, had a lot of negative press coverage and many included obvious drawbacks.

  • Epic CEO fears Apple's influence over the metaverse

Epics concerns have all aligned under one idea: How they can more efficiently fleece money from children.

Any other industry player who gets in the way of that has been a target for their nonsense, marketing campaigns and stonewalling.

Pay close attention to any company that only holds up values when the those values are being used to change something to their benefit. Such as Epic talking about small developers, they could help them in numerous ways, but don't. However they claim to speak for them the moment it comes to unlocking a new revenue source for their own interests.

  • Facebook also launches blue-check Verified program

Meta's verified system worked better when it was based on social eminence, the verification procedure included a requirement to show press coverage of yourself or profile.

Just like on twitter, it wasn't only about being who you say you are, but that what you say or are selling is considered a legitimate source. I.E. Trustworthy.
